My son's first adult size Rock Shoes
Reviewed By Mike, 01 Oct 2012

The Preston staff spent hours getting the correct fitting shoes. These may not look the most trendy looking shoes but the expert staff fitting helped convince me the shoes were right for my 11 year old.

Good choice for starting off
Reviewed By Bryn, 22 Sep 2012

These are quite good value for money, and were well fitting (narrow feet). Being laces, they do take a bit longer to tie (lets be honest, this is a matter of seconds) but are comfortable enough to wear for several hours. They do not curl the toes as much as the higher-level, more technical shoes - but for the "easier" levels of climbing they do the job perfectly.

A comfortable first climbing shoe.
Reviewed By Chris, 03 Jan 2012

As soon as the climbing bug took hold I found myself at my local Cotswold Outdoor (South Cerney) holding many climbing shoes. After some expert help from the staff I left with these Scarpa Vantages.
They are an excellent beginner's shoe, feeling snug but without forcing the foot into the cramp-inducing shape that top-end shoes can on inexperienced feet. Because of this they are an excellent choice for a long session of climbing, where walking between routes may be necessary.
The disadvantage is that they don't give the support underneath that you'd like when balancing on thin edges, sapping confidence to commit to harder moves.

Great service at Hedge End.
Reviewed By Andrew, 08 Nov 2011

As a beginner I wanted something that fitted well enough, rather than was perfect and completly unwearable. These do the job. Definite improvement in my foot placement when I use these. Lace-ups so I can adjust compression to suit foot shape. No signs of damage after first session. Soles not too sticky, so not collecting rubbish from the floor. I would give 5 stars for service.
Perform as expected, at the moment money well-spent. Let's see how I feel after a few months of use.
Not giving a rating of 5 stars as I have no other experience for a comparison.

Good Step Up
Reviewed By Samuel, 04 Nov 2011

After a long chat with the sales assistant at hedge end went for these boots as they gave a much better stiffness than my original Boreal Jokers. The rubber on them is perhaps a little hard but on the plus side they have lasted a long time for climbing shoes. Have to say the staff really know their stuff, spoke to a young chap named Dougie who turned out to be the president of Southampton Mountaneering Society!!
