Best Boots in 20 years
Reviewed By Darren, 28 Nov 2013

I nearly bought these the first time I saw them, but they did not have my size in the store. Reluctantly went for a different pair, then another over two years. Functionally the other boots were OKish but I always have a problem with my left Achilles which gets very painful after a few hours. Not with these boots - they have been comfortable from day one. Never get wet in them and they clean up nicely. So far they seems really tough as well - despite what I have seen in other reviews. Wish I had waited in the first place. It you want leather boots that are high quality - buy these.

Great Boot for all occasions!
Reviewed By Tom , 29 Oct 2013

Its taken me ages to make the jump and admit that my old £25 pair of Hi Tech boots had had it! I started looking into a number of different boots and reading the reviews, After visiting Cotswolds in Bakewell where I tried on the ASOLO Powermatic 200 GV, there was no need to keep looking, Paul at the shop really looked after me, the measuring service at Cotswolds is fantastic and it made the whole buying experience much more bearable. Thanks very much to all the guys there.
On to the boots.........all I can really say is WOW!these boots are amazing and fit perfectly, I have pretty narrow feet but these wrap around my feet like a second skin, thus far I have worn them on a hike, to Fish and to go shooting. they are the comfiest boot I have ever owned. my feet stay perfectly dry and very well supported. I cant recomend these boots or Cotswolds enough, hopefully I wont need new boots for the next few years but anything else I need I will be heading there with no hesitation for some expert advice!

Made for the Munros
Reviewed By Tim, 27 Aug 2013

My last 2 pairs of boots were the fabric type but I found that all that stitching rots with the wet peaty acidic soil we get on many Scottish mountains. So I've gone back to leather and this boot is so comfortable I'm hoping it'll see me to the end of my Munros and beyond.

As others have said these boots are spot on if you have narrow feet and heels. I've always struggled with heel blisters but from first walk I can say they've fitted really well.

I went to the Edinburgh store for the full fitting service and Colin helped me try on many pairs of boots until I was absolutely sure. Must have spent over 2 hours there but there was no pressure from any of the sales staff even though it was a busy Saturday. Boots are so critical to enjoying your day in the hills that it's worth taking your time and listening to the advice of the staff. Colin was a regular hillwalker and so knew what he was talking about. He then gave me a 15% discount because I'm a member of the MCoS and also a copy of my foot measurements because next on my shopping list was a shoe shop for some boring work shoes :(

So far so good
Reviewed By Pete, 20 Aug 2013

Went to Betws-Y-Coed Costwold branch and for the first time got my feet measured, the sizes were nowhere near what I go for. a whole Size and a Half larger that I thought, normally I would never have even considered these but after trying quite a few pairs of various makes on and these fitted my feet perfectly. Took them home and wore them around the house for a week the a couple of km walk to check that the comfort was still good and on the weekend stress tested them by walking up Moel Cynghorion which has everything from swamp to exposed rock, the boots performed magnificently with the ankle support paying a real dividend on the way down across some ankle wrenching open ground and across some nice boggy ground to test their waterproofness. These boots may not be for you if you have wide feet, but imho they are probably be the most comfortable boots I have worn for a very long time.

Great Service
Reviewed By Gary, 14 Aug 2013

Received excellent service at the Bakewell shop. Staff took great trouble to take acurate measurements of my feet. I have a very slim foot and was therefore recommended to try this Asolo boot. I have worn this on a number of walks now and found it to be excelent, very comfortable, and with no sign of any blisters or other issues. Would defininately recommend!

Not suitable for high level use
Reviewed By Shaun, 12 May 2013

I bought these after been advised to by the member of staff in the store.
I explained I was needed a new boots for my Summer Mountain Leader course, and I would be walking and scrambling a lot over the week.
Out of the box the boot was very comfortable and fitted well. I broke them in very easily in a matter of days.
My concern with the boots was after a week on my Summer ML course the boots are now in a very poor state.
The leather is very soft around the toe box, and after crossing a number of scree sloops you can almost see the lining.
The sole is also not good on wet granite or edging on a slope.
When they got wet on a river crossing they retained all the water.
I will to be buying Asolo boots again.

Best boots ever

Most helpful staff who took the time and trouble to give assistance. Did not feel rushed even thought hey were busy, member of staff at Cardiff most patient. These boots are the most expensive I have ever bought but I believe they will be an investment. Extremely comfortable once you get past the solid feel of the boot. Most suitable for rugged terrain.

I have the womens version!!! Awesome!!!
Reviewed By Gemma, 17 Jan 2013

I was looking for a decent solid boot which fitted me feet well ... these were just perfect. As the only pair in store as they were newly introduced as a womens boot, I didnt hesitate to buy them. They are extremely comfotable and fit my narrow heels very well - I am prone to blisters and rubbing, and so far I have been very pleased with these boots as my feet have stayed intact. Check your local store to see if they have the female version of these boots ... you will not be disappointed!

Great for Narrow feet

I've just bought a pair for my son to replace a pair of Scarpa boots. The fit for narrow feet is very good. The lacing system is very quick and even and the whole boot is "Quality" The Staff at the Truro store are brilliant, know what they are doing when it comes to boot fit and nothing seems to much trouble for them.

Sturdy boot, great for narrow feet
Reviewed By Rachel, 18 Apr 2012

Very comfortable boot that has good, sturdy all-round support. The lace-up system is great, the little pulleys on the lower part of the boot guarantee an even pull around the foot. As I have narrow feet, these boots were suggested to me by the staff in the Maidstone Cotswolds, and I have to say they fit very well. Still getting used to the colour, but a small price to pay for a great boot.

OMG - how comforatable
Reviewed By Adrian, 12 Apr 2012

Ive had leather boots of one description or another since I was 15 some 20 years ago.. These boots have to be ranked in the top 3 I have ever worn if not the best. The stiff sole might feel too rigid for some but dont let that put you off as internally the construction is as such that when you are walking it feels soft. Gore-tex lined so that there is always that final barrier should water make it through the leather. Im a narrow fit and had Scarpa ZG10's which ticked all the right boxes for me but were too wide and my feet suffered. I Decided that enough was enough and trotted to the Truro branch where my problems were listened to and answered with superb service and patience. An hour later I emerged with the perfect boot for my feet.

I have a 35 mile walk coming up and have only walked about 10 miles in these thus far, but feel confident that no further breaking in is required as the boots feel like a quality pair of trainers even though they are stiff and leather.

If your looking for boots make sure you try these, you wont be dissapointed.

Very comfortable and well made
Reviewed By Simon, 10 Apr 2012

It is worth the effort to go to the store and get advice on buying boots. I made the mistake of buying discounted boots from an outlet a couple of years ago – it wasn’t a good investment!

A helpful assistant in the Betws-y-Coed store measured my feet and told me that I should try a different shoe size. My feet are long, shallow and narrow and it seemed like I had been using the wrong boot size all along. He brought out these boots, amongst others, but they seemed the most suitable. My advice is not to buy boots over the internet unless you are certain of the fit – the service that I received in the store was very useful. The assistant gave me a lot of time to ensure that I had the right choice.

I have taken the boots for a couple of long walks. My feet were completely dry, the grip is excellent and they are very supportive and comfortable. I would highly recommend these boots.

Excellent boots available in wide and narrow fit
Reviewed By James, 03 Apr 2011

I bought a pair of these in 2009 and they have proved very satisfactory, the most comfortable boots I’ve ever had. They are available in a wide (and also a narrow) fit in addition to the standard fit though, despite all the hype from outdoor equipment stores that their service will “ensure you get the perfect fit for your feet”, I failed to locate any stores that stock the boots in wide fit to try on. So, having tried on the standard fit to get the correct boot size, I took the plunge and asked Cotswold to special order a pair in wide fit for me and am very pleased I did. They’re great. (I was initially told that, if I specially ordered a pair, I would have to purchase them even if the fit was not correct when I tried them on but the Covent Garden store eventually relented. Mine did fit perfectly but the message is, if unsure, just be persistent.)

Fantastic pair of boots
Reviewed By Iain, 05 Mar 2011

I bought these boots because I already had a pair of Asolo Fugitive boots and was very happy with their fit and comfort. The Asolo Power Matic 200 GTX are comfortable straight out of the box. I had to dye them black (I'm in Armed Forces and wanted to wear them for work, dylon black dye works well). Wearing them day in day out I have found them to be spacious enough for the wider foot, but still tight enough to be very comfortable (more comfortable and flexible than my Scapa SL's). Bottom line so far I am very happy, recommended purchase.
