I've had these boots for over a year now and the have taken me through my gold expeditions in snowdonia and the lake district, as well as hill walking trips in Switzerland and the Pyrenees with my family. I'm now a mountaineer at university and so have put the boots to the test on countless scrambling trips.
These are an incredibly comfortable boot and will support your foot well for those tough ascents. Make sure to break them in before your expedition as there is stitching in the heal of these boots on the inside which ca be irritable at times. Ones broken in though it is no longer a problem.
The Gore-tex is excellent and keeps your feet dry no matter what the weather is. The only times I've had wet feet is from stepping through bogs where the water goes over the top.
Only one for me and it is the sole of the boot. Whenever i step on rock with the boots being damp or if the rock is wet, it is like you are on an ice rink. It is treacherous and i noticed it when scrambling on Tryfan. I had to Be really cautious about my foot placement and was slowed a lot by easing down a rock while others were able to hop and run between them. I even had to catch myself a couple times.
Check what you think this boot will be used for. General hill walking and Dofe is perfect but if you go scrambling or somewhere where there is a lot of wet rocky terrain, I would consider a different boot as it is borderline dangerous.
