The DMM 4CU's light weight is a noticeable advantage when packing in or climbing with a full rack. An average 20% weight saving means that the climber can "sew up cracks" with a much lighter rack. Another way of looking at it is that climbers can place 20% more cams, feel much more secure, and still come out even on the weight. Less weight with more protection ... who wouldn't love that? Each cam is rated to 14 kN in the active, working position with the quick release sling doubled, and 12 kN with sling fully extended. The passive strength of the cams, resting on their stops, is 10 kN.

Best selling for a reason

Moving onto Grit didn't just mean actually learning to climb (hand/foot jamming and smearing). I also needed to update my rack. The 4CU range gave me an affordable opportunity to do just that, light weight and durable the cam lobes have deep teeth to give a nicer secure bite into the rock. The double stem gives you a nice feeling that it will do its job. I found the trigger mechanism nice and smooth, because of its double stem if the cam was to walk you can easily hook your nut key under the trigger and retrieve it (Try to do the same with a single stem). To be fair none of my 4CU's have walked but that's due to the double sling which comes standard on all DMM pro. I've never taken a fall on my cam's but im confident that if I do I'll be swinging of it and laughing with my second.

Great cam to start building your begginers rack

If your just beggining to get all your trad gear, admitably, all this gear is expensive. The DMM 4CU cams are, light, affordable and definitely do the job perfectly. I have all their cams and recommend them all. In addition to this I also suggest for easier recodnition of sizes on your rack, go for the colour coded snap gate set which go with these cams.
