A rugged GPS unit with powerful positioning technology and easy-to-use features.

The GPSMap 62 boasts an excellent antenna, high-sensitivity receiver, compatibility with EGNOS/WAAS (additional positioning systems) and Garmin's HotFix system for rapidly regaining dropped signals: in other words, you have to try pretty hard to get lost with the Map 62!

As well as its basemap, the GPSMap 62 can be loaded with a wide range of maps, from Ordnance Survey maps of your favourite National Park to South East Asian roadmaps to charts of Canadian lakes. With storage for up to 2000 waypoints and 200 routes, you can tell your device where you want to go and it can take you there...or if you're exploring you can tell it when you've found somewhere you like and it can take you back again! Once you're done, you can upload details to Garmin Connect, where you can simply keep a record of the info or share with other Connect users, so you can explore each other's routes.

Those involved with the increasingly popular activity of geocaching will appreciate the GPSMap 62's paperless geocaching facility. Simply load the cache information to the device and away you go: nothing to write down.

Decent GPS but NO external storage option
Reviewed By Graham, 25 Feb 2013

Incredibly this device doesn't have any external storage. I didn't realise that you could buy a GPS without a micro SD card slot so this unit wont accept the full UK OS maps (which require about 4GB of memory). Apart form that it all seems ok, but beware if you want to put UK OS maps on this unit - you can't!
