Really well constructed and very comfortable. Albeit that the heavy duty nature of the trousers means you might be overheating on a warm Summer's day.

I bought these to replace a pair of Haglofs mid-flex trousers that I absolutely loved, but the hems frayed after two years of daily use due to the other boot catching the hem.

Items like trousers are a very personal thing and we all have our likes and dislikes.

In my personal opinion, these are the best technical walking trousers I have owned.

First impression is how heavy and tough the material feels, even before you put them on. This might initially put some people off, but read on.

Once on the fit is very natural, I am 6' and 75kg, and the S fit me like a glove!

Belt hoops are fantastic as they are proper material sleeves rather than just hoops. Over long distances and especially when hacking up long steep climbs, this makes a big difference in keeping the rear of the waist in the right place - I use a supple, wide leather belt as they are much more robust than webbing ones.

Pockets are fine for me as I only tend to use them occasionally and almost never for phones etc.

Knees and backside are extra heavy material so they really do put up with sitting down on rocks and kneeling down to get things out of your pack. I've used them for several weeks now doing all the usual scrambling around and they look like new after a wash.

Hems have an adjustable strap to cinch them closer to your boot tops and there is a lace hook on the front edge to hook the hem to your boot laces - all great features which are very useful.

In use you do notice the weight of the material, but I find that the material 'moves' very well so it doesn't bind to your skin. For example, when climbing ups steep sections, there is no clinging to your thighs as you build up heat / sweat so the trousers still feel 'loose' on your legs.

But the real revelation is the zip vents on the sides of the thigh. These are an absolutely brilliant feature. I've had trousers with this kind of vent in the past, and never got on with them, mainly because they keep on jamming.

With the Rugged design, the vent opening is just long enough that you get a really effective flow of heat leaving your legs and cool air coming in and the zips can be operated single handed due to the weight of the trouser material - genius!

I have used them on a surprisingly hot summers day in Scotland and they were extremely comfortable.

The material also wicks and dries very well.

It seems to me that Haglofs have designed the perfect trousers for me and I am absolutely happy with them.
Nothing to dislike.

Second pair - incredibly robust, well designed, good vents, big pockets. My first pair still look like new after 18 months so the price is justifiable. I climb, walk & work in them.
None.
