Year after year, this Hilleberg ultra-light solo tent is a favourite among backpackers of all kinds.

The Akto pitches easily in the worst of weather, provides good storage and excellent protection from the elements. Pitching as one, it has a single main pole with four stub end poles for better stability and more interior space. The fly or inner can be used on their own (needs extra pole cups). For a tent of this size the excellent ventilation keeps condensation under control. The waterproof Hilleberg Kerlon 1200 outer fabric has perhaps the best strength to weight ratio available today. Multiple reflectors for maximum visibility, strong and tough guylines, plus zipper flaps to provide extra weather protection and increase the zip's longevity.

I have scored so highly because I had an Akto for the previous 11years and have been very pleased with it. It finally gave up the ghost a couple of weeks ago and I had no hesitation in replacing it with the latest model. The ease of pitching is one of its best features and its stability in high winds is another. Its initial cost seems high but if it lasts for as long as my first Akto it is very good value for money. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for a durable but lightweight tent.
Not sure about a couple of new additions. The zip cover seems superfluous - I never experienced any leaks previously. The pull tags on the tent pegs also seem un -necessary. The guy ropes are also slightly thicker. These are only small niggles but all add to the overall weight and packing size.

This is a fabulous little tent. I am currently using it on The Cape Wrath Trail and it has stood up to the worst of Scottish weather.
Marginally heavier than some of the Ultra lightweights these days, but sheer quality. You get what you pay for.

This tent is bombproof in nasty weather, the build quality is second to none, the kerlon outer fabric is the best money can buy nicely proportioned with good venting and a decent sized porch.
It is a bit on the heavy side but due to it's exceptional bad weather performance so not for fair weather campers. It's also pricey due to the excellent quality but you get what you pay for
