Mens Burma Pro GTX Boot

1 2 3 4 5

Meindl's perrenially popular go-anywhere boot for trekking up to the snowline. Meindl have been making boots in Bavaria for over 300 years, and although the Burma hasn't been in their range for quite that long, their expert leatherworking heritage is brought to bear in the construction of this exceptional boot. All the benefits of a top quality leather upper - durability, foot-contouring comfort and weatherproofing - team up with the added reassurance of a 100% waterproof Gore-Tex lining and a rubber rand for added protection against scuffs. The leather "wings" of Meindl's DIGAfix lacing system wrap around the top of the boot to hold the foot securely, especially around the heel area. This combines with the Memory Foam System(MFS), which sits between the leather and the lining, adjusting its form to the shape of your heel for an exceptional fit. The stunning attention to detail extends into the sole: made exclusively for them by Vibram, Meindl designed the Multigriff sole for excellent traction on a variety of surfaces, even specifying the angle at which the lugs project from the unit.

Great Boots

You can get these boots slightly cheaper elswhere but it's worth the extra for the superb fitting service you receive at Cotswolds the staff are extremely helpful, and I found out things about boot fitting I never knew and I have been Fellwalking for years. I got mine at Newcastle Store and cannot praise the staff there highly enough.

Brilliant Boots

I have had a pair of these for over 2 years now and have found them to be extremely comfortable hard wearing boots that have never leaked.
They were comfortable straight from the box and did not need to be broken in, the lacing system is excellent, as is the ankle support and MFS system. If I had to pick fault and its only a minor one I would say that the footbed is slightly hard for my liking and would benefit from softer cushioning but apart from that highly recommended.

Simply Fantastic

Buying a pair of these was probably the best thing I have ever done with £180. They can go anywhere and do anything! I was a bit sceptical at first as to how good they would actually be as they felt quite heavy and stiff. However after about 10 hours worth of walking time they felt like slippers. They quickly soften up and flex better with your foot. The memory foam heel system also makes for a very custom fit which means they don't slip up and down your heel. The locking eyelet halfway up is a great feature as it means you can tighten the laces differently at the top to the bottom. They have taken a lot of punishment in the last year and are showing very minimal signs of wear, have never leaked and even stand up to my version of cleaning (a hosepipe followed by a bit of Nikwax if they are lucky). There are lighter boots out there but these boots are definitely worth the extra couple of hundred grams. You will never buy a different pair of boots again after you buy a pair of these!

Just like carpet slippers!

First wearing of these boots in a very soggy New Forest and they felt great. easy to wear buy giving great confidence in support and grip. These boots are higher than my old pair so I'll need to experiment with the lacing and tongue to get exactly the fit I want but I think I'll be going faster with the GTX's!

Meindl boots for me!

Having developed a corn on the joint of my right big toe I had been having trouble with my boots and a friend recommended Cotswold. In the Cambridge store I was given the best boot fitting I have ever had, and these Meindl Burma Pro boots were recommended at a half size larger than I have used in the past. They were comfortable straight out of the box and a year later I am delighted with them!

Best boots I have ever owned!

I have had 2 pairs of these boots in my time, I use them alot with no trouble at all and never any wet feet! The first pair needed a re-sole and also had some minor stitching faults which was a manufacturing error, Meindl have excellent customer service and my boots where exchanged free of charge. These boots also can work with a flexible 10 point crampon such as a Grivel Monta Rosa or Grivel G10 with a Flexi bar. The crampons have never come off when in use on Scottish Munro’s and I have seen other hill users with a similar combo. All in all they are extremely comfortable and I would recommend them to anyone, the fit is second to none and I have never had blisters!

A dream to wear with the MFS system

I recently visited the Newcastle upon Tyne shop and received extremly good service, I have recently had a foot operation and my right big toe is now pinned making it inflexible, I explained this to the salesman and he suggested this boot because of its extra width, the boot is a dream to wear with its MFS system, it is extremely comfortable to put on for the first time and my 'new' foot fitted in very snuggly at the toe, the upper foot and ankle - even tho I had to buy a size larger than normal because of my operation, this is my fourth pair of Meindl boots and I cannot praise this company high enough for their walking boots, they are both comfortable on moorland and roads if you have to do that kind of walking when out and about, I would certainly reccommend them to anyone who is not sure which product to look for when buying walking boots

Real value for money

It starts with the fit. The attention to detail I got from Steve in the Guildford store was excellent with care taken to ensure I knew my size and some good advice thrown in for free. I had been hesitating about buying Meindl boots, they are not the cheapest, but I was given confidence by the fitting service.

The Meindl Burma Pro has a semi rigid section in the middle of the tongue and this should not lie over or under the sides when laced up. Instead, choose a thicker or thinner sock to get this section to lie flush with the front of the boot for the best fit and comfort.

It’s important to ensure that your heel is pushed firmly back into the boot. The Digafix lacing system helps here, with hooks directly in line with the heel socket so that the laces really pull your foot into position, a bit like seatbelts for your feet.

Meindl advise re-tying the laces after five minutes or so when the memory foam has warmed up and shaped itself for a perfect fit. That works! After a quick adjustment, I could feel a cosy, hugging fit that prevented my heels from rising, even when going uphill. The feeling was warm and cosy so I did expect my normally sweaty feet to be super hot at the end of the walk.

As for the Air-Active footbed,

Proper sturdy boots

These boots have been a great buy. I bought these a year ago and have had planty of use from them in all seasons across a range of conditions, from snow capped mountains to trekking round the coast. The memory foam around the ankles really improves comfort and they have never rubbed even from the first use. An eyelet did come off my first pair almost straingt away, but I returned them to my local store despite buying them online and they swapped them with no questions. The second pair have really been put through their paces and have been superb.

GREAT LOOKING EXCELLENT WALKING BOOT

I bought these boots from the bakewell store and had fantastic service. My feet were measured and I tried on these boots. They felt quite stiff and heavey at first compared to the other boots but after being fed up with hotspots on the balls of my feet from my old boots I wanted a more sturdy boot. They stood out on the shelf and I really liked them.
They have been brilliant since the 1st walk I did in them. I didn't need to break them in but I also didn't over tighten them.
These boots are more expensive than the rest but if you look after them they will last you years.

My feet were measured properly for the 1st time ever, and he offered so much help and advice so that I could finally get something that was comfortable. My favourite walking boots of all time.

I've just bought my third pair of these boots because I think they are so good. Very comfortable from day 1, I have never needed to walk them in before I take them away with me on a walking holiday. I alway buy the boots 2 sizes bigger than my usual shoes so I can wear a thick pair of socks in them. I've walked all over the world in them and they have been superb in every environment.

Reliable and comfortable - great for the demanding

After my trip to the Pyrenees I decided I needed new boots. I had a clear idea of what I was looking for - gore-tex lining, stiff sole and high level of comfort. These Meindls fit the description perfectly.

Meindls' level of comfort was supposed to be excellent. And it really was! From the first time I put them, my feet loved them! The foamy inside adapted to my feet and everything was nice and comfy from the start. I tested the shoes on some hikes without walking in them first and that was not a problem!

The sole is quite stiff, which is great whenever you go hiking/trekking, especially in the heavier peaks. It protects your feet from all the rocks and other things lying on the ground. At the same time - it has excellent grip: muddy ground ,wet rock, wet wood - you name it! I trust these shoes! The EVA cushions your feet so you don't mind the stiff sole even after a 10 hour trip.

The shoe is fairly stiff in general, it holds your ankle securely but it also gives you just enough flexibility to be able to walk comfortably. It will do well with a big backpack, as well as when going light. They might be a wee bit too heavy for those walking only on light hikes in warm/hot weather in rural areas or the smaller peaks (E.g. t

Superb!

These are the comfiest walking boots I have ever owned -ever!

The are hugely supportive which is a must for myself due to a hyper-extension condition - more flexibility, less stability!

The boots are also a fantastic fit and are perfect for my medical orthotics.

The fitting staff @ Cotswold Peterborough were superb and incredibly helpful. It's well worth being professional measured in store.
