titani-yummy!

Fantastic stove! I'm not a fan of the current "stacked" stoves with pot over burner over cannister, they're so unstable its a hazard, hence updating my old Primus Easyfuel 2 with this.
The stove itself weighs 219 grams, pump is 103g and supplied fuel bottle is 87g. The stove is smaller than the old Omnifuel and now fits nicely inside a 1 litre pot (Primus/ Optimus etc) to keep it tidily packed.
Having done some calcs it seems the stove burns Primus power fuel and gas at the same weight per minute (using correct jetting) and each fuel is almost identical in efficiency for boiling water, with gas using 2.4g/min and powerfuel/white gas using 2.49g/min.
In terms of overall pack weight, with one 250g gas cannister it weighs 600g (new cannister weighs 380g!) and using a full fuel bottle weighs 707g, although with the bottle you get 300g of fuel rather than 250, hence on anything more than an overnight trip where you'd take a 100g gas cannister it is more space, weight, cost and time efficient using liquid fuel - and the liquid fuel doesn't suffer depressurisation slow-down like gas cans do, as you just give it a few more pumps on the handle.
Overall a fantastic, light and efficient stove, not to mention the titanium grin factor!

Did Carlsberg make this stove?

Because it is probably the best multi-fuel stove in the world!!!
I bought this stove 11 months ago and have used it on varying trips, from wild camping in Scotland to cycle touring in Slovenia. We used it 2-3 times a day for 2 weeks, and came away with a positive impression.
It’s known to be reliable and sturdy. As its name suggests, the Omnifuel stove also works with just about every fuel going, from ordinary car petrol to sealed cartridges.

What I love;
Weight – 441 grams including fuel pump (I think this is quite light?)
Cost – I Paid £116.00
Size – 140 x 85 x 70 mm (Fits in the palm of my hand)
Boil Time – 3 minutes (ish)
Best suited for - Wild camps and Cycling adventures (It’s a tad excessive for a regular 'Glamper')

The stove is extremely sturdy. It packs away just as small as my old Whisperlite, but the legs on the stove are a lot more robust. They grip well better to the ground than my Whisperlite, and small teeth-like ridges on the top hold the pot firmly in place. On a sloping surface, you don’t worry that your dinner might slide away (this once happened with my Whisperlite, the language spoken cannot be repeated in this review!!!)

As soon as you pick up this stove, you realise the quality construction. The pump is made of metal, with a leather plunger on the inside (compared to plastic and rubber for the Whisperlite). It feels extremely robust. I have no doubt that it would stand up to a lot of wear and tear.

One small adjustment point offers a great degree of control over the flame, and this makes it easy to cook things like rice and thick soups without burning them. You still have the option to turn the stove to full power too.

Anytime you cook with a dirtier fuel like ordinary car gasoline, some soot is created. The Omnifuel is cleverly designed, however, so almost no soot sticks on the outside of the stove. Your hands stay clean. The inner core of the stove does get black with soot, and requires occasional cleaning, but this is no different from any stove. For a soot-free experience, you need to cook with something purer like gas cartridges (which are more expensive and sometimes hard to get hold of in Europe. I found it really easy to get petrol everywhere I went!)
You can run the Primus Omnifuel on nearly anything: car gasoline, white gas, kerosene and gas cartridges. That makes it fantastic for international touring.

The Primus Omnifuel comes with a well-made cloth case. Aside from the stove, there is room for extras like spices and cooking knives. This is great for keeping the stove separated from your clothes, and also for protecting it from bumps while cycling. Love it!

What I don’t Love;
This stove screams “come for dinner” to everyone in the area. It’s a bit like firing up a jet engine; something campsite neighbours might not appreciate if you get up early for breakfast, although in the middle of nowhere who cares!?
The windscreen is a brilliant addition to the package and helps shelter the flame in windy conditions; it speeds up boil time too!
Flip-off switch requires forethought - When you flip the bottle to turn the Primus stove to the “off” position, the stove will continue to work for 1-2 minutes. This means you need to think ahead if you want to be super-efficient with your fuel use. Although, to be honest, I just turn it off and disconnect the stove from the fuel, I've had no problems doing this!

Like any major purchase, whether the Primus is worth buying depends on what you will use it for?
Some reasons TO buy the Primus Omnifuel;
You plan to bike tour a lot
Or
You really hate sooty hands. (The Omnifuel doesn’t get nearly as sooty as the Whisperlite, and the design makes it very easy to keep your hands clean)
Or
You love cooking. (This stove gives a high degree of control over the temperature of the flame especially for simmering)
Or
You love things built to a very high quality. (I always buy the best I can afford. Why buy 3 cheaper versions when 1 quality one will do?) The Primus stove is very solid, with more robust legs than the Whisperlite and a metal pump with a leather plunger (compared to a plastic pump and rubber cap on the MSR Whisperlite, I've had 2 of these break on me!).

Some reasons NOT to buy the Primus Omnifuel;
If you are on a budget this is one of the more expensive camping stoves on the market.
Or
If you don’t plan to cook many of your own meals go for something cheaper
Or
If you only plan to do simple things (just boiling water for pasta and instant meals) then the Primus Omnifuel is overkill.

I hope this review helps you to decide, I will always buy Primus from now on!

Thanks

Efficient stove

I bought this stove for my expedition that I went on with college, to the Lake District. I chose this stove because it is incredibly cheap and comes with the pots and pans. The pots and pans have a handle that is removable so you do not burn yourself when moving them when hot. The only problem that I encountered was that the top of the stove was flat, so it was easy for the pan to slide about. This problem can be resolved if you cook on a flat ground rather than a hill. The stove still works like all the other stoves and has an easy adjustable knob to turn the gas up or down. Fitting the gas is really easy too. It comes with instructions.

Excellent 1-2 people cook system

If you want a stove that will pack down small with little compromise this is a safe bet. An alpine style stove so keeps out of the wind, has a wind shield for extra protection(but no need to take it if you want a lighter load), and a pre-heat tube so you can use it in the real cold. The pan has a heat exchange system so 50% more efficient and a quicker more even boil. Could it have a down side, unfortunately yes, first it does pack down small but you can only pack a 110g gas in it, not a massive problem though as it's more efficient. The major down side is it has a big circular base, so finding flat ground to place it is more important. Overall though it's a great stove being small, but big enough to cook a meal for 2 people with no problem, maybe even 3.

Best Personal Stove available

I've owned this stove for nearly 3 years, and it tends to live in my pack as it is light enough to take on day walks, but versatile enough to cope with camping trips. Flame is adjustable enough to boil a large mug of water in under 2mins but can simmer gently as well. Everything fits in the pot - Gas Canister (small), burner and cloth. Pot is big enough for one person cooking and can cope with two at a push. Holds a litre of water so can easily do drinks and snacks (cup a soup, etc) for two or three on the trail.
Much prefer it to a Jetboil (I've used personal and group ones with our scout group) as it seems more controllable, far less fussy and oh yes the piezo works on the Primus. In fact the old Apple saying of "it just works" is very apt.

Quick, lightweight although a bit unstable

This stove is great in its packsize and weight as well as having an extremely fast boil time in a varied range of conditions. The included pot has a heat exchanger which noticeably increases the stoves efficiency which is great for long multi-day hikes where you are carrying your fuel. The stove performs well in wind although it takes careful placement as the windshield is not the best although it does help out a little. The biggest flaw in this stove is the shape, it is tall and slim with a small base which makes it unstable, i have now improved this by using a stand which clips over the gas can and almost doubles the base width lowering the centre of gravity. Overall a good price for what you get, great non stick pans and a good boil time make it a great contender for the jetboil.

Nice size thermal jug

This is an ideal size for one person wanting to carry chunky soups. I bought it today and although I have not used it I have done a thermal test on it. I was concerned that if there was too much thermal loss the contents could become the ideal breeding ground for bacteria. I preheated the jug with hot water and then filled it with hot water. The temperature of the water was 95ºC at that time. I then put it outside in an air temperature at 6ºC at that time. I left it outside for 4 hours and the temperature had dropped to 2ºC. The water temperature had dropped to 50ºC which is lower than I would have liked however the air temperature had been lower than a jug would experience in a rucksack. I will be happy to use it to keep soup or other liquids hot for 3 hours but no longer than that

The only pot you will need if out backpacking easy to clean, the frying pan lid fits 2 eggs perfectly but you will need to fold bacon in half as it is a little small.

Very light and essential piece of kit for anyone's backpack.
