Fantastic in nearly every respect. Love it.

I bought this tent after viewing the competition at the Betws-y-Coed Tent show, the tent itself is very well built, very quick and easy to erect even when wet, without the need to pitch the inner separately providing it is packed correctly each time.
It is a cosy 2 man tent but with plenty of boot and kit space between the fly inner and outer at each end and also in the porch area which on wet mornings also doubles as a great cooking area if propped open with and additional guide rope and walking pole due to the vertical zip (this really does make a massive difference and an added bonus). The pegs are very lightweight aluminium and I have used TI V pegs as a replacement, but in that respect this tent has been built to a budget and I can’t honestly drop it down to 4 stars for this one reason when the rest of it is so well built and very light especially for the price range, the seams are tape sealed which makes all the difference with the rain we have had of late, I have camped out a few nights in very strong winds with no unwanted adventure in the night to report and have had an excellent night sleep . To sum it up fantastic design very light, easy to pitch, well built, amazing value for money and best in class. Cheaper than a night in a hotel in most of the UK.

Superb value for money.

I bought this tent for myself because of it's weight and practicality, i'm 6ft and fit in easily and can sit up no problem.I've been caught out a few times with the weather but after a bit of practice can have it up in minutes as i leave the inner attached to the outer when taking it down thus making it a doddle next time i use it.Had 8/9 hours of hard Derbyshire rain and wind and not a drop inside, only complaint is it's sold as a two man tent which would be a tight squeeze but i bought it for me and my kit which it fits easily so im more than happy.

Great little tent!

This is a great little tent for the money, offering plenty of space for 2 people and all your gear. Very easy to erect, and I really like the new linked in groundsheet in the porch area, as it offers just that little bit of extra protection against the elements. However, the best thing was when I was at my local Cotswold store (Shrewsbury), they offered to pitch the tent for me to see, before I bought it. Now that is fist class service!!

Comfy for 2, cosy for 3

Had the 2011 and 2012 versions of this (main difference is purely the colour!)

Really simple, and quick, to pitch. grounds sheet in porch means you can leave some gear there for more space inside.

Good all rounder for the money :-)

Great tent for weekends away

I bought this tent with my boyfriend a few weeks ago and we used it last weekend. The inside is nice and spacious - plenty of room for two + stuff but three would be a squeeze...It was easy to put up and came with instructions. The actual tent is fairly lightweight so easy to carry around in it's carry bag. I would highly recommend it!

Amazing for D of E

I got my self one of these tents for my Duke of Edinburgh (DofE). Upsides of this tent is that there is only two poles which keeps the weight down, along with a light weight canvas it is one of the lightest poled tent i have seen ,all of this allows for quick setup and take down. downside is like with most tents the makers dont seem to include the fact you will have a bag with you so it may say two person tent but its only one person with bag. What i think is the best thing about this tent is how easy it was to pack and atach it to my bag was. All in all this is a good tent for a weekend away or DofE.

Massive for 1 person!

I've tried quite a few 1-man tents - the Wild Country Sololite, Akto, JW Gossamer and this is my 3-season choice everytime.

Incredibly light, with a small pack size (no problems with budget airline carry-on luggage!).

Mine has slept two in reasonable comfort, but the PL is best enjoyed alone - acres of space, quick pitching and striking.

Warts and all? Well, it took me a while to get the knack of pitching it so it was taut (end poles must be vertical) and it does sweat a bit, as there's no vent near the apex like the Akto. That said, these are minor gripes about an otherwise splendid beast!

Rock solid and like the tardis

I am 6ft 2in my buddie is 6ft 6in we both own this tent. The first thing you notice when you first pick it up is the weight you don’t even notice as it is so light. Very easy to put up quickly on “auto pilot” and once up you have a safe haven from the elements. I have always been a bivi bag person I also like being out in all weathers this tent was a massive surprise to me. If you are a solo packer their really are few (if any) better choices. It lasts too! Nothing I hate more than a piece of kit that promises much but fails quickly. This tent lasts I have owned mine for over 5 years now and it shows little signs of age . I use mine for all sorts great for light weight packing (have to light weight now due to ageing knees lol). Also have a top box on the motorbike and this tent fits in easy with sleeping bag cooker and food for a few days. Been out in some big storms with it too and I slept like a baby. The room in them is worth mentioning too of course its a 1 man tent but wow more than enough room for yourself your kit without a strain yes I agree the price tag is high but as ferris bueller said “if you have the means I highly recommend it”.

Still the Best!

Like many products which have been on the market for a while it would be easy to dismiss the Akto as out of date, however in this case it would be a bad error. I use it in the North and West of Scotland on backpacking / hill bagging expeditions often camping in less than ideal pitches in ever changing weather. I'm also 6ft4ins tall which puts space at a premium especially in wet weather. Nevertheless, in my view the Akto is simply the best available compromise between weight, space, weather resistance and durability. I would reccommend it to anyone.

Terra Nova Ultra Quasar

Used the Quasar as a base tent in the Alps for 2 weeks during some pretty severe weather this Summer. Absolutely no worries about stability in high winds or waterproofing despite being on the fringe of an area of flooding. Although sole occupant, plenty of room for plethora of ice and rock kit, food etc in the 2 eaves and the internal net pockets are a useful touch. Looking forward to putting it in my pack for a walking tour at Easter.

Practically indestructable!

I've had one of these for nearly 10 years now and it lives up to its incredible reputation. Mine has been up numerous mountains in dry, wet, hot and very cold weather and it always provides an outstanding level of protection from the elements. It has even been blown off the side of a mountain in the Highlands and survived a 1000ft fall with practically no damage. I even packed it back up and went back up the mountain where it looked after me for a further 3 days without a problem. And if you're wondering how it came to lift off from a mountain, that was entirely my fault for trying to pitch it solo in a gale. This is quite honestly the best piece of kit I have ever owned!
