Forerunner 210 Heart Rate Monitor

The Garmin Forerunner 210 is a step up the range from a basic GPS running watch without all the excessive and unused features that many users ignore on more expensive models. The Forerunner 210 has custom interval training options as well as zone based heart rate training features. The unit comes with the premium heart rate monitor strap and also links to Garmin Connect on your computer with the USB charging / data clip. The web based tracking software alllows you to upload and replay all your workouts. It will accurately track time, average speed / pace, distance and calories as well as location. The launch earlier in the year of the Forerunner 110 proved that there is a huge market for a Garmin GPS watch that is simple and easy to use. The 210 is still easy to use and sized so that it can be worn day to day, but it does allow you to train with the option of intervals and zones.

Multi function watch

I have had many multi function watches in the past but this is my favourite. Firstly the styling is cool discrete and yet masculine. The watch looks and feels of excellent quality and the buttons are easy to see or feel in the dark. The display is also very discrete and for me pitched at the right level and easy to read from all but the most accute angles. The menu is easy to operate and commit to memory with all the functions the any outdoor person could ever need. I don't need to tell you about all of the functions as I am sure that you have read about the watch description already. I can however tell you that all of these functions are surprisingly accurate once you have set up the watch correctly. I have another suunto watch which has been totally reliable so I am expecting the same from this watch. Another good feature is that you can change the battery yourself and so save money and time, not having to send it off or take it to a jewellery shop. In summary this is a stylish and very capable multi function timepiece from a quality company with a sound reputation. It is easy to use despite being multi function and is very practical. I would highly recommend this product.

Great watch for every use

The best watch I ever had although I wasn’t into watches .I did some research before I buy it and the reviews I read were great, from the 1st moment I wore it I loved it. I have bought it 1 year ago and I have put it to some tests from mountain biking to spear gun fishing. It is very accurate, the altimeter has a declination of 2or 3 meters I think nothing too serious. The compass is also very reliable and it has some great functions and have used it couple of times in my travels mostly in city environments finding my way after getting out of the metro or the underground. The barometer is accurate too but it needs to its time to give correct measurements that means that u have to be outdoors for some hours so it can take data and process them, it doesn’t show accurate measurements indoors. The depth meters is most accurate and reliable I have tested up to 20 meters and was working fine .I like the light it has a greenish color that shines quite nice. The factory battery lasted for almost one year. In overall 5 out of 5 I recommended

Greate Purchase, highly Recommeded!

I bought this watch based on both recommendations from colleagues and from the research I conducted across the Suunto range. I have been extremely impressed with the watch since its arrival. The appearance is, in my opinion, very smart and 'stealthy' and although it is a large face I do not find it overbearing because the strap keeps it in proportion and the face does not protrude too far away from the wrist. The watch is also lighter than you would expect which helps make it comfortable day to day and during exercise. I found the instructions fairly easy to comprehend although some of the 'case studies' when you might use a particular feature are a bit ridiculous - seems they let a frustrated Creative Writing graduate go a bit crazy! However, the watch is pretty intuitive once you have spent 15 minutes fiddling with it and entered your required settings and calibrated the compass and altimeter.
The compass does not appear to have the same level of accuracy but I will give it the benefit of doubt because Suunto do say that it will suffer from magnetic interference around electrical/metal objects. I suspect that the compass works far more accurately in the scenario for which it is intended - hiking.
I have read a few reviews where people have said that the digits are sometimes difficult to read given the grey-on-black digital face. I will agree so far as the digits do not jump right out at you but I would say that it is perfectly usable in all light levels and I prefer the 'stealthy' look that the grey-on-black affords.

Overall, I would recommend this watch to anyone who is considering purchasing it. You will not be let down.

Worth every penny...

Suunto Core All Black Overview:

Pros:
•Comfortable
•Both strap and battery are very easily changed
•Packed with features
•lightweight
•Robust and Intuitive, easy to use feature set
•Accurate altimeter readings
•Backlight
•Large, easily read face
•Storm Alarm
Cons:
•Not all buttons can be locked so the sub-display is often switched
•Hard to read display from some angles
•Bezel is made from steel so scratches rather easy

I have always had a keen interest in watches but could never find one suitable. So when it came down to choosing, I wanted some robust with many features. This then took me to the ABC wrist-stop watches (Altimeter, Barometer, Compass.) With some research I came to learn that Suunto was the standard for all these types of watches. The core was their latest model and sounded unsurpassed by any other. I went for the stylish 'all black military' version shown in the picture.

The Core packs all the features expected of a good wrist computer and tool, in a stylish shell. Features include an altimeter with a logbook, a barometer with a storm alarm and weather trend indicator, a digital compass with a rotating bezel/dial, time and date, timer, and depth meter. The altitude readings came in very accu

A Proper Big Watch...

I've been wearing Suunto for over 10 years, I first had the Advisor and I replaced it with the Vector a few years ago. I never really used the HR Monitor function anyway.

Suunto watches aren't perfect, the Altimeter is temperamental and the Temperature function only works accurately if you take it off. However the compass works well for a quick spot check and the Barometer is surprisingly accurate and from using it I've found that I can now often 'sense/feel' the pressure drop when rain's due!

Their biggest problem though is build quality. One both of my watches the bezel has needed replacing and battery changes now come with a new battery cover and seal because you could guarantee the old seal would end up bejiggered when replacing the battery.

So, the question is do you want to fork out a whole lot of wonga on a generally technologically good watch with dodgy build quality?

The answer is, of course you do because it's a big, awesome looking proper man's watch which will always tell you where North is and when it's gonna rain...who cares about how high you are or how hot it is!

Great adventure watch!

This is a great watch that has a good amount of features which a pretty accurate. I got this watch at the start of December and have worn it non-stop since.
The only downfall is that my altitude goes a bit funny at times, however this maybe down to the person using it not actually reading the
instruction!
I would defiantly recommend if your into adventurous sports or just in need of a good looking watch!

A great multifunction watch

I have had this watch for the past month and have been out every weekend and it has been invaluable. A great and reliable little bit of kit. Although the altimeter, barometer and compass are all reasonably accurate, they are no substitute for experience and skill with the individual items. I'm looking forward to testing this watch in the winter to see if the quality is as high at very low temperatures. All in all a great piece of kit.
