Excellent devices.

These are noticeably smaller and lighter than the older version and work very well. It's worth speaking to an instructor at the wall before belaying a leader as it takes a while to get anywhere near as quick at paying out slack as with a normal belay plate.

Lives up to most expectations

A lot of people will say that the original Grigri is still the way to go and to an extent I agree, however it's down to personal needs. My local climbing wall uses 11mm ropes on top rope which is the top end the Grigri 2 can take and I find that it struggles to cope with the thickness especially when the ropes are getting older. Personally I wouldn't use the Grigri 2 with any rope bigger than 10mm thick. When it comes to leading though when I am using either my 9.2mm or my 10mm rope the Grigri 2 works extremely well. Operating is just the same as the original but it seems to be slightly smoother and more sensitive, so as long as you are using thin ropes I would go with the Grigri 2 and save that little bit on space and weight.

Smooth belay device.

These are great for belaying light folk and are smooth on abseils. I wouldn't recommend them for belaying any chunky monkeys as they don't have the highest friction when locked off.

Simple but very effective.

Easily one of the most simplistic belay devices, but that does not mean that it doesnt work!
It is very easy to handle, and very light.
Doesn't have the grooved channels seen in other belay devices which may be a problem if the belayer is lighter than the climber as some slippage may occur.

mazing and always will be a classic

this is the biz
i have owened this for nearly a year now and can honestly say that it has been great, very slick on the pay-out but will catch a fall with ease, these things are made to last forever. there is only one down side and thats the slight weight issue, but its only a couple of grams. it has and probably will be the industry standered for a while to come yet. amazing service at the harrogate store.

Great Set

Not a lot of grip when using smaller indoor ropes but still a decent belay. The set is good with a very light karibiner.

Good looking, hard working device

This VC Pro comes couple with the Synergy Lite Screw Gate, these work fantastically together. You might find the device is better for the more experienced climbing to operate when using thicker ropes such as 11mm. This is because the device becomes very grippy... Over all though this is a lovely device to use. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Quality Piece of Kit

I have used a number of belay devices in my many years of climbing and this one is by far the best. The smooth flow of the rope and ample friction makes this device a pleasure to use for novices to professionals. THIS REALLY IS A MUST HAVE PIECE OF KIT!

Very well designed belay device

I was not expecting too much from this device being so moderately priced, but was taken back by just how smooth belaying was. It is lightweight and the loop is plastic coated to stop that annoying clinking noise that comes from the belay hitting the carabiner. Overall, very impressed.

by far the best

this is one of many belay devices i have owned and this has to be by far the best one it offers you excellent control over your climber as you can feed rope through very smoothly but catch a fall in an instant and one of the best things has to be the smoothness of lowering your partner. i would recommend this to any beginner or experienced climber
