EXCELLENT!!

Bought these boughts for D of E expedition a while back and they are fantastic! The shoes support my flat feet very well and the high top supports my ankle brilliantly! They superb quality, hard wearing and definatley waterproof!!! The boots didn't give me any blisters especially since I didn't break them in properly before wearing them for the first time. The boot fitting was great and the guy in the store really made sure I was happy with them and comfortable before I bought them. He also showed me how to do the laces up properly and everything :)Overall great boots

Absolutely BRILLIANT!

I only bought these boots last week and just got back from a weekend away hiking in Scotland. They had excellent grip when walking across hilly and rocky areas and were so comfortable. They were very lightweight compared to my older boots which was a bonus too! I couldnt have bought a better pair! Best by far! I'd recommend them to any women walking in any areas from the lake district, wales, breacon, the lot! They were also a great price, couldnt find them cheaper anywhere else! Hurry up and buy!!

Comfy boot for a variety of terrain

I've had these boots for a few years now and have used them on a variety of terrain from lowland walks to the hills in the Lake District & Scotland on short walks to multi day trips all year round. They were comfortable out of the box (and still are) and seem to suit my feet (quite flat with a broad fore and mid foot). The toe box is roomy and the rubber toe cap is good for protecting the front of the boot especially since I tend to scuff the toecaps. The high cut of the boot helps with the feeling of support and stability and I like the lace locking feature at the ankle which allows differential lacing to ensure that the heel sits in the boot properly. Apart from a little moisture from feet on long days, the goretex liner seems to be doing its job in keeping water out. Grip is good in the dry and ok in the wet. Insole is a bit basic but seems typical of other boots. The fabric bits are not so easy to clean compared to all-leather boots, but they look ok 3 years on. All in all, a good comfy boot for 3 season walking/trekking.

The best boots , and fitting service, ever

These are the only boots I have ever had that have not given me blisters. Covering 27 miles over the weekend on very hilly and uneven terrain, in cheap socks, these boots have been fantastic. They are roomy and feel like your toes are on soft sponge, but they're secure in all the right places so my feet didn't slip forwards when heading down steep and slippery slopes. A big thank you must also go to the excellent fitting service at Cotswold's. Without that I would have chosen the wrong boots and size. They were patient and gave plenty of good advice. I can't rate the boots or the servie highly enough.

Really comfy, no blisters!

I have enjoyed walking for many years and yet have never found boots that fit perfectly and do not give me blisters for the first few walk outs. I bought these boots when my old boots finally needed to be put to rest and was really nervous as was headed for Kilimanjaro in just 2 months. There was no need to fear. They have been light, flexible, waterproof and super comfortable on every walk and the memory foam on the heel is just fantastic! The guy at the store was so helpful and knew the perfect fit for my feet first time, while still allowing me to try leather boots (as I am usually an avid fan of the latter)! However the comfort factor was a no brainer - I am so glad I listened to him. Thank you!!

Fantastic! Very comfortable and no blisters..

I bought these boots in preparation for a trip to Kilimanjaro. I allowed myself a good 4 months to break these boots in and ensure they were super comfy but there was no need. These boots were really comfortable from the start. I took them on a 6 hour walk on the first day and not one blister. When I went on my trip to Kili my feet stayed dry the whole time, no sore feet and were great on the trek down the summit too leaving my toes intact. I used these with Bridgedale socks + liners, so worth going for that combo.

Live in them year round!

Bought these from Cotswold Outdoors 2 years ago and I still live in them almost every day! As they are waterproof I use them instead of wellies and even in Summer they are perfect for wet grass in the morning or cold evenings. Look fab with skinny jeans and leggings and I get compliments on them everywhere I go. Due to the fact I wear them constantly they are not looking as good as they were so decided I needed some new boots. Have searched far and wide but can't find any I like as much so will be buying the same boots again.
The only reason I haven't given them a 5* is that I hoped they might last a couple more years (waterproofing and zip have now gone), but I do pretty much live in them so they have been very well used!

Warmth and comfort

I bought these boots for my fiancee for christmass. She has tried the boots and say they are super comfortable and very warm in the snow and ice. The boots have great grip on the soles and support the ankles. Staff at the Belfast store were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend these to others.

Fell in love with this boot!

I was looking for a winter boot to wear in bad weather but that was smart enough to wear at work (I'm a teacher). I fell in love with these, they are warm and very comfortable - having bought the brown style, I also tracked down and purchased a black pair. They have now been stowed away until the next wintry weather spell.

Excellent pair of boots

I recently bought these boots from your Northumberland street store in Newcastle, these boots fit like a glove straight from the box, no break-in required, the staff were very helpful and well informed of each of the different products they stocked, I went for the ranger boots as they fit great and the price was a bargain at £90, if you are looking for some new boots at a reasonable price I would not hesitate to recommend you take a look at these boots, you will not be dissapointed.

Great Boot

I bought a pair of these a few months ago from Cotswolds. I usually avoid goretex linings as they can sweat my feet and love my Meindle Borneo Pros. However i bought these as a waterproof second pair and have no regrets. Comfy, excellent leather and no leaks. i can't fault them as all round walking boots. I've had scarpas before and cannot fault them. old established purveyor of quality boots.
Cons
Not the most aggressive sole so best for low level and trail walking. Not suitable for crampons.

Well worth a look

If you are looking for a great value leather boot, look no further. I've never bought a Scarpa boot before , but I am sure I've made the right choice at a very competitive price for me. The boots are well made, hopefully lasting for at least a couple, maybe more of Dartmoor walking years.
Following three short 'break in walks' just in case they were required, and they were not, I have now used the boots across open moorland, bogs and high Tors with much success, leaving my feet dry and blister free.
There are many more expensive boots on the market, and some even cheaper, but these Scarpa's appear to be all I require feet wise to allow me to walk in comfort during wet months walking across open country.
My normal size of 9 fitted well, but slightly on the tight side so I optied for the next size up and with good socks the boots fit really well leaving my toes with plenty of room and no rubbing.
As I have said, this brand is new to me, but up to now I feel I have made a sound purchase.

4 Years with the Scarpa Rangers

Have had a pair of these for around 4 years, walking a range of terrain in that time. Very happy with fit from the off and waterproofing shows no sign of failure. Always scrub up well. Sadly, we are now parting company. In the last year or so, 2 problems have emerged. Firstly, there is some mild splitting / tearing at a junction between the leather upper and the rand on the outside of my left foot. Probably just how I walk and doesn't impact useability - wouldn't be a reason for change any time soon. More critically however, I am increasingly feeling sufaces through the soles which have softened markedly in terms of "give" with wear - notwithstanding plenty of tread being left. Replacing the very thin insoles with Sorbothane insoles has made no difference. Pressure is at either side of the base of my toes and becomes most noticeable after a few miles walking. I wear good quality, purpose made socks so can only attribute this to the boot. I am a heavy walker so others may not experience this. All up this is now a bargain at circa £90 in part I think given a revised version is coming - the Ranger 2. Have personally just chosen a replacement pair of boots - Meindl Borneo Pro's (no Gore-Tex) - which also fit great out of he box but I have yet to give them an outdoor outing. I had hoped the Ranger's would have lived for longer so rating reflects my disappointment on the long term comfort issue only. Without this I could see these lasting for another couple of years and might have considered a resole given the uppers are generally sound and still bone dry inside.
