Sole falls off

I had one pair of these boots - gaps developed between sole and body at toe, compromising waterproofing and promising imminent deterioration. Took it back to shop, got refund. Got second pair cheaply online, almost new, same thing happened, but this time I got to see the whole process - gaps developed at toe, sole then completely disengaged from body at toe, rendering boot ruined. Had to do major glue job to finish walking trip and throw boots out when finished.

Good looking but poor performance

A great disappointment. My first pair were really comfortable but one boot leaked and they had to be returned. My second pair are on their way back as they are excruciating with rucked up lining causing blisters.Poor quality control.

Excellent Comfort

I used these boots, for my silver D of E expedition and a three week expedition to Uganda. Throughout, they were strong, flexible and comfortable boots.

After walking for several days at a time I still want to keep wearing them; I have had near no blisters and rubbing, and I have yet to find a more waterproof boot. Although they come at a hefty price, they are definitely worth every penny.

They fit narrower feet perfectly leaving your feet ready to continue walking after a night's rest. I would strongly recommend this to anyone. Brilliant.

outstandingly comfortable and grippy

Exceptionally comfortable footware and not failed in wet weather yet. The shape (or last) seems similar to salomon footware and fortunately suits me well; the heel cup is an added bonus and does what it should. Used for hillwalking and scrambling and works very well for both- the soles are very grippy but this comes at the price of wearing fast. Regarless of this, when it comes to replacing them i'll buy another pair without hessitation.

Great summer boot

Almost the first outing was a 10 day hut to hut walk in Switzerland with no problems. Feet keep cool in hot weather. My only critism would be the sole wears down quickly, not as durable as Vibram.

Sturdy upper, sole perhaps not so great

Having heard these boots may take some time to wear in, I took them for a walk in the countryside first rather than the mountains. Initially the boots felt very supportive and I had no worries about kicking into rocks etc. The lugs aren't very deep so if you walk on mud they quickly fill up and aren't very grippy. Unfortunately a small part of the sole came away on this first walk, which didn't make me too confident about taking them anywhere technical so I returned these for refund.

Ideal for the Cumbrian fells

These boots offer two features that are important for me. The laces are easy to tie tight (for those who have inflexible fingers) and the boots give firm ankle support. They are comfortable straight from the box; no need to break in. They are ideal for walking the Cumbrian fells.

Top quality boots

I just had a weekend away doing walking/scrambling/bouldering in Derbyshire, and these are fantastic. They were comfortable, resilient and tough, not to mention waterproof, which came in useful when crossing fords. At the end of the weekend, with everyone else complaining of blisters, my feet were completely unaffected by the strenuous time they had.

Great pair of boots

I recently bought these for a Duke of Edinburgh expedition, and having worn them solid for 2 days, am very pleased with my purchase. They are fairly breathable, as my feet weren't hot at all, and very comfortable. The GoreTex lining is also great, as having stepped in several puddles my feet remained waterproof. A great pair of boots at a fairly average price.

Great for narrow feet

I bought these recently, so as I could get into scrambling. I went on a trek in the peak district, in kinder scout, I was very worried that my feet would end up with massive blisters, just like with other boots I've had. But even after a couple of hours of walking and a bit of scrambling(non-stop), these boots still fell uncomfortable and the grip is very good as well. I would recommend these boots to anyone who has narrow feet like me.These didn't need breaking in either...

If your looking for a pair of new leather boots look no further, these boots are the comfiest I have ever owned. Make sure you try on in the shop as the Power Matic is not overly generous in it's width/length.

Excellent boots available in wide and narrow fit

I bought a pair of these in 2009 and they have proved very satisfactory, the most comfortable boots I’ve ever had. They are available in a wide (and also a narrow) fit in addition to the standard fit though, despite all the hype from outdoor equipment stores that their service will “ensure you get the perfect fit for your feet”, I failed to locate any stores that stock the boots in wide fit to try on. So, having tried on the standard fit to get the correct boot size, I took the plunge and asked Cotswold to special order a pair in wide fit for me and am very pleased I did. They’re great. (I was initially told that, if I specially ordered a pair, I would have to purchase them even if the fit was not correct when I tried them on but the Covent Garden store eventually relented. Mine did fit perfectly but the message is, if unsure, just be persistent.)

Fantastic pair of boots

I bought these boots because I already had a pair of Asolo Fugitive boots and was very happy with their fit and comfort. The Asolo Power Matic 200 GTX are comfortable straight out of the box. I had to dye them black (I'm in Armed Forces and wanted to wear them for work, dylon black dye works well). Wearing them day in day out I have found them to be spacious enough for the wider foot, but still tight enough to be very comfortable (more comfortable and flexible than my Scapa SL's). Bottom line so far I am very happy, recommended purchase.
