Was sceptical that these would be any better than the usual walking socks that I normally wear. They are not cheap, but after wearing them they are worth every penny and I will be buying more. They kept my feet warm and comfortable and at the end of the walk I had none of the usual aches in my feet that I normally get, highly recommended.

Not cheap but brilliant walking socks. Kept mine on for two days (in a tent by myself) of serious, soaked walking in the Lakes. The water only finally got through when I had to wade a river. Yes partly down to boots too but these didn't slip once and I haven't got any blisters despite being out of practice. Well recommended.

With so much great walking gear available the humble sock is an often overlooked but vital piece of kit. The Endurance Trekker by Bridgedale is a joy to wear - the protective cushioning keeps feet feeling fresh on extended walking trips, and yet its robust enough to go through scores of wash cycles without showing any signs of wearing out. Worn in conjunction with Bridgedale's liner socks the Trekker provides the best sock combination money can buy for walking in the UK.

A few months ago I required some socks for an upcoming expedition and chose to buy three pairs of the Endurance Trekkers and I am so glad I did. I've grown so fond of them I wear them casually under my normal trainers. They offer great comfort and you get to have a little laugh when everyone else is in moaning about their blisters when you don't have any!

It always takes me ages to choose the "right" socks. On this occasion I was looking for a light temperature and well padded sock - I know a difficult one!. These socks tick the well padded box but are too warm for what I want right now. They are very snug around my lower calf (I've chunky calves though) and don't come padded enough up around my heel. I'm super fussy about socks and usually LOVE Bridgedale products so take that into consideration when you're choosing.

I am absolutely not a speed diva but these little socks give my feet a cuddle whenever I slip them on. They literally stand up on their own (foot shaped) as they are so well constructed. When the balls of my feet are burning after the first long day on a fell of my holidays, I take off my boots, put these on to pad around in and everything in the world is good. Don't get me wrong, I don't just wear them for lounging but I'm painting a picture of my conversion to getting good kit to improve the quality of my life. The padding all around the cuff makes them perfect for wearing under my approach shoes and when cycling as they protect my ankles from every angle : other sports socks forget that you need the TOP of your foot cushioned too when flexing. Ah, now, I am talking about them as if they are a person, I'd better leave it just there.

I recently purchased a pair of Bridgedale Control Fit socks, to replace my current ageing walking socks. When I was in my local Cotswold Store (Guildford), I decided to purchase a pair, mainly because they were on offer at £10 ! I had been recommended Bridgedale sock by my colleague at the Open Award Centre of Kingston, so it seemed a simple decision to make ! However, I didn't read the label ... "A finely knit toe box with a high friction forefoot improves edge feel for more control in ski boots." As I was intending to use these socks for walking, you can see the likely issue with wearing ski socks ! The first time I did wear the socks to walk in, I was unaware of the design implications, and was set for a 25 kilometre walk (with heavy rucksack), I noticed during the walk the intense heat I was feeling in my boots. By the end of the walk I had very sore fronts of my feet ! As promised in the description. The solution though is to wear a thin pair of normal socks underneath, to create a barrier between the friction pad and the skin ! I tried my new solution on the second day, to great results, I had warm, dry, comfortable feet all day long and that night my feet were in top conditon. Good purchase ... always read t
