Hilleberg
Year after year, this Hilleberg ultra-light solo tent is a favourite among backpackers alike. The Akto pitches easily in the worst of weather, provides good storage and excellent protection from the elements. Pitching as one, it has a single main pole with four stub end poles for better stability and more interior space. The fly or inner can be used on their own (needs extra pole cups). For a tent of this size the excellent ventilation keeps condensation under control. The waterproof Hilleberg Kerlon 1200 outer fabric has perhaps the best strength to weight ratio available today. Multiple reflectors for maximum visibility, strong and tough guylines, plus zipper flaps to provide extra weather protection and increase the zip's longevity.

The Hilleberg Nallo 2 GT Tent is the extended vestibule version of the Nallo and has become the benchmark in 2 man tunnel tents. The Nallo 2 GT offers an exceptional space to weight ratio, and one of the most spacious living spaces of any compact trekking tent on the market. The Nallo Tents excel in any situation where the lightest possible tent is needed, but where true all season strength and reliability might be required. The entire front of the Nallo GT’s vestibule can be rolled away to create a tunnel-shaped opening which has full tent width and enough depth to keep all but the worst weather away from the inner tent door. Linked inner and outer tents holds the shape well and makes pitching easy, yet they are also easily separated for individual use. The Nallo's ventilation works regardless of weather conditions, since the inner tent fabric is highly breathable yet water repellent, and since the large front vent is not only situated high enough to keep air moving even if the tent is dug down into deep snow. The GT’s extended vestibule boasts an entrance on each side, so that you can always position one out of the prevailing wind. Vertical inner tent entrance makes access easy, especially in the dark. Clothes line and two inner pockets make organising inside simple.

I am 6ft 2in my buddie is 6ft 6in we both own this tent. The first thing you notice when you first pick it up is the weight you don’t even notice as it is so light. Very easy to put up quickly on “auto pilot” and once up you have a safe haven from the elements. I have always been a bivi bag person I also like being out in all weathers this tent was a massive surprise to me. If you are a solo packer their really are few (if any) better choices. It lasts too! Nothing I hate more than a piece of kit that promises much but fails quickly. This tent lasts I have owned mine for over 5 years now and it shows little signs of age . I use mine for all sorts great for light weight packing (have to light weight now due to ageing knees lol). Also have a top box on the motorbike and this tent fits in easy with sleeping bag cooker and food for a few days. Been out in some big storms with it too and I slept like a baby. The room in them is worth mentioning too of course its a 1 man tent but wow more than enough room for yourself your kit without a strain yes I agree the price tag is high but as ferris bueller said “if you have the means I highly recommend it”.

Like many products which have been on the market for a while it would be easy to dismiss the Akto as out of date, however in this case it would be a bad error. I use it in the North and West of Scotland on backpacking / hill bagging expeditions often camping in less than ideal pitches in ever changing weather. I'm also 6ft4ins tall which puts space at a premium especially in wet weather. Nevertheless, in my view the Akto is simply the best available compromise between weight, space, weather resistance and durability. I would reccommend it to anyone.
