Excellent mountaineering pole

I purchased a pair of these trekking poles in June specifically for taking part in the Satmap 10 Peaks Challenge in the Lake District; a 73km 24 hour endurance event over the 10 highest Lake District peaks. I had never used trekking poles before, never really trusting them to take the load, but I was advised to use them after developing patella tendonitis in February and they have been a revelation. I had them out all day in the event and they did not let me down once. Not only did they save my knees but they prevented me rolling my ankles and generally reduced the strain. They are incredibly light yet very sturdy and it is very easy to adjust the height as required. The handle is excellently ergonomically designed so that it naturally sits in your hand. I have used them countless times since in Snowdonia, Lake District, Dartmoor and Exmoor and they just keep on giving and are excellent over all terrain (except scrambles for obvious reasons). I cannot recommend these enough and advised a new team member for the 2011 10 Peaks Challenge to invest!

Excellent Hiking Pole

Great value for money when you consider the quality of this hiking pole! Comfortable yet adaptable handle and of course, the anti-shock mechanism really saves the knees in the mountains! Essential kit for a guy who is planning some long treks through the Magillycuddy's Reeks in August!

great buy

I bought this walking pole to help me have more stability also because i get sore knees after walking so far when walking up and down the mountains in england, wales and scotland. I found unlike other poles the anti shock on this pole is really good and makes your walk more comfortable and enjoyable taking a great deal weight of your knees when you put your weight on the pole the anti shock also enables you to be able to support your self more when climbing down this is a must buy to anyone that doesn't have one!

Leki poles transform my walking experience

I was surprised at the positive impact walking with poles had. A week's walking in the Lakes made so much more enjoyable, I'm mid 40's and although not fit, still in reasonable shape. I found I tackled the hills without tiring or needing a helping hand from the rest of the family. It was like being four-footed, so much more stable. They are now a critical piece of kit for walking along with my boots. Thank you
