Berghaus was born from, as founders Peter Lockey and Gordon Davidson saw it, a lack of quality outdoor kit. Back in 1966 the pair set up LD Mountain Centre which had the primary aim of selling high quality outdoor gear, and it quickly gained a very good reputation.
Lockey and Davidson soon took it upon themselves to start designing and developing their own gear. With their experience, they set about creating a new range of clothing and it was this range which inspired the brand, Berghaus. Since these early years, the brand has gone from strength to strength, constantly innovating and driving the progression in technological advances in outdoor gear. Oh, and having fun in the process...
You need a pack with great ventilation to get the most from your day. Berghaus were keenly aware of this and wanted to do something about it. Along came Freeflow, a Berghaus innovation that helped put an end to a sweaty, uncomfortable pack.
Refined over the last 14 years, the basic principle of Freeflow is to keep air circulating between your backpack and your skin. To do this, the team have added a mesh which sits on your back and away from the pack itself. This means there is minimal contact on your back and more importantly a gap between you and the pack, helping to keep you cool.
