Take to the trails this year



Trail running is running with a difference – you get to explore beautiful landscapes and push your limits with steep ascents and descents. Trail runners can be found on a variety of different terrains including hills, fells, mountains, forests and moorland.

Many people who live in rural environments go out trail running on a regular basis, often to keep fit, get some fresh air and enjoy the outdoor environment. If you live in a more urban environment, trail running is a great way to escape into the mountains on the weekend and work away the stresses of everyday life. For those who really like to challenge themselves, there are many trail running events and races to train for and compete in.

When you are out on the hill, your choice of footwear is extremely important. Trail running shoes and considerably different from standard running shoes used for track or asphalt – they are built to tackle more rugged terrain with more traction and better protection from roots and rocks. Some trail running shoes also incorporate a waterproof lining to keep water out.
