
1. Head Torch - Light up the trail, stay safe and be seen in low light conditions.
2. Compass and map - Make sure you always know where you are going before you leave and plot it out on a map, especially in remote locations. A compass will help you find you direction when you need it most.
3. Energy supplements - These will come in very handy when you energy levels are low.
4. First aid or safety kit - Especially in remote areas and long distance trails, a basic first aid kit and safety essentials can be a lifeline.
5. Water bottle or bladder - There are a range of options available to help you stay hydrated on the move, whether you prefer to carry a bottle or carry a hydration bladder in your pack, or both! Staying hydrated is essential, whatever your level.
6. GPS or heart rate monitor - Being able to track your route electronically on a GPS unit is a fantastic tool and most trail running watches have a range of great features that are really useful on the trail. Keep an eye on your speed, heart rate, pace, distance, calorie burning rate and more.
