Mens Guide Tennie Shoe

1 2 3 4 5

A true approach shoe in the classic mould: walking shoe comfort with rock shoe friction. With lacing down to the toe and Five Ten's legendary Stealth C4 sticky rubber on the soles, the Guide Tennie clearly has climbing aspirations. However, the comfort and support come from the world of walking shoes. So, you can walk to the crags, scramble or climb all day on easier routes or, if you're on harder grades, clip them to your harness for the walk-off. Much beloved of instructors who need all-day comfort in a shoe they can still use on more technical ground, the Guide Tennie is ideal for anyone whose exploits see them covering mixed terrain.

The best shoes on the market

I got these shoes when I was 10, about a year and a half a go, and although I'm a child and don't use them as regularly as many adults would, they've lasted brilliantly. They are very comfortable and have great precision lacing, which I like after having my toes squashed by climbing shoes. Frequent approaches to the crag have really exposed them to rough ground but the Stealth C4 grips seem to look the same with no signs of wear. However sturdy they are though, they are still agile, and definitely capable of easy routes and scrambles. They look very similar to climbing shoes, with rubber toes and heels, to aid climbing precision, and a very slim profile for lightness and, again, scrambling and climbing. The only things I would change are the laces, which are a little slippy and knots unwravel easily, but otherwise, like it says above, the best shoes on the market.

Great performance all rounder

Gives me a snug but comfortable fit which allows for precise foot work on micro edges and smearing. The rubber is the stickiest I have come across.
The black material line around the laces is starting to wear away now and some of the rubber is detaching from the upper, but this is probably down to being worn 3 times a week for over a year.
Great great shoe, will definitely be buying a new pair when these ones eventually break down.

Great, precise rock shoe

Love these rock shoes. These fit my skinny feet perfectly, a lot of other models leave a lot of unwanted space around my foot. Performance wise, the Stealth soles are nice and sticky and the toes and edges are really precise. Surprisingly comfy as well.

Best all round shoe

Whether its grit, limestone, granite, slate, sandstone, dolerite; bouldering, sport climbing, trad climbing, DWS, soloing; at the wall or on the crag, overhang or slab, competition or adventure, single pitch or multi-pitch, edging or smearing, heel hooking or toe hooking, 9b or 3+, wet rock or dry, these shoes are unsurpassed.

I got these shoes a few months ago and have used them constantly ever since. The most obvious thing I've noticed is the sturdiness of the Stealth rubber, as they've still got almost sharp edges. I'm eleven and have done the whole Youth Climbing Series (YCS) competition in these, and enjoyed how much easier it was to slip them on and off between routes, for ultimate feet relaxation! The overal fit of the shoe gives excellent toe presicion, and with very sticky rubber you can swap feet on small, slopey and polished footholds. The snug deep heel also makes heel-hooking a real winner. I’ve noticed the velcro straps are a bit long and can get in the way, but this doesn't take away from the excellent performance they provide.
Overall, these are excellent (read top section!)

If you ever slip off holds and blame your shoe, now you can't. When you buy this shoe it feels like your cheating in some way the rubber sticks to holds so much more than any other shoe, buy it

Excellent! An all around workhorse of a shoe!

I've bought these shoes for indoors lead climbing and outdoors sports climbing and they did what they say on the box. First off, they were a good fit for my foot which is one of the most important factors perhaps, especially as mine are a bit on the wide side. The Stealth Onyxx Rubber feels a lot firmer than the Stealth C-4 rubber and make these shoes fantastic for edging with plenty of support as well as smearing. I have read other reviews and was aware of the support softening after some use so I did what is recommended with any good climbing shoe and took them off while belaying or not climbing and they have held their shape superbly up to now. I sized them down one full size from my street shoe, and while they didn't really stretch they did change shape just a little to mould around my feet which is ideal. The heel cup is great, the Velcro straps give enough adjustment and make putting them on and taking them off quick and painless, again the best way to keep them in good shape while not climbing. However, after using them for a few months, I noticed that while the rubber on the sole is holding up very well, some of the rubber on the toe rand is pulling away from the upper. Yeah, I sized them a little tight and they had to str
