The DMM 4CU's light weight is a noticeable advantage when packing in or climbing with a full rack. An average 20% weight saving means that the climber can sew up cracks with a much lighter rack. Another way of looking at it is that climbers can place 20% more cams, feel much more secure, and still come out even on the weight. Less weight with more protection ... who wouldn't love that? Each cam is rated to 14 kN in the active, working position with the quick release sling doubled, and 12 kN with sling fully extended. The passive strength of the cams, resting on their stops, is 10 kN.

Great belay plate

i was not expecting the bug to work as well as it does as i only payed £11 for it but was amazed at how smooth belaying was!

Quality Piece of Kit

I have used a number of belay devices in my many years of climbing and this one is by far the best. The smooth flow of the rope and ample friction makes this device a pleasure to use for novices to professionals. THIS REALLY IS A MUST HAVE PIECE OF KIT!

Very well designed belay device

I was not expecting too much from this device being so moderately priced, but was taken back by just how smooth belaying was. It is lightweight and the loop is plastic coated to stop that annoying clinking noise that comes from the belay hitting the carabiner. Overall, very impressed.

by far the best

this is one of many belay devices i have owned and this has to be by far the best one it offers you excellent control over your climber as you can feed rope through very smoothly but catch a fall in an instant and one of the best things has to be the smoothness of lowering your partner. i would recommend this to any beginner or experienced climber

a 4CU saved my life

these are the most outstanding and reliable bits of gear i have ever bought. In fact i would say that 4CU's are better than the dragon cams, the quality is exceptional. the teeth on the lobes and the cam stops are well defined and deep, the trigger is sharp and very responsive and when yo have a full rack the weight of them makes for a noticeable reduction in the overall weight of a rack. But to my mind the stem is the real gem as its flexible and will take a load which would snap a single stem cam. I tool a 30ft fall onto a single size 3 cam and it held solid.....

I have a full set of these and they offer the best value on the market. They're easy to place and release and hold well.

Best cams on the market

These cams are fantastic! As with most of DMMs placement gear they have managed to make an item that Can Allow as greater range of placement as possible. These means racks become more efficient and in most cases you can get away with carrying fewer cams. these cams are really light as well and the colour coding system makes it easy to identify different sizes. These are a very good cam for the price you pay!

Classy cam.

These have a super-smooth action and are very well made. The only annoying thing is that DMM size these differently to their 4CU cams - the Dragon size 5 is exactly the same size as the 4CU 3.5, meaning my 4CU size 4 is still my biggest cam.

Outstanding set of cams!

If you're looking to update your rack or even buy your first set of cams then the DMM Dragons are perfect for all, very functional and easy to use and maintain with replacement wire kits available. The extendable sling is surely one of the best features of the Dragons allowing super quick extension and deeper placement often eliminating the need for a quickdraw. A highly treasured piece of equipment and highly recommended, in my opinion, as good as or better than any other camming device I've used.

Reasonable price for fantastic cams.

As I'm sure nearly everyone knows, these cams are fantastic. The double axle gives them a much greater range of placements, and the sling extender is very useful for preventing the cam walking, as you don't need to use a quick draw.

They are, however, slightly heavier than single axle cams, which may be crucial for the weight conscious.
