The Paladin Jacket manages to combine a lightweight, minimalist design with ingenious features to create a stunning alpine style jacket.

For the Paladin, Outdoor Research are using Pertex Shield, a lightweight, waterproof and breathable fabric which nevertheless offers impressive durability. Although descriptions like "lightweight" and "alpine" may sometimes mean a garment is rather basic, with the Paladin, attention is still being paid to detail. If you're working hard but battling high winds, you want to keep your jacket on and not overheat:  pull open the double sliders on the pocket zips so they're open but not gaping and the mesh linings vent excess warmth. Hood drawcords are channelled away from your face to prevent injury: a windblown toggle can pack quite a punch!
