Exceptionally Warm and Comfortable Reviewed By David, 31 Mar 2013

Having recently invested in a pair of these Rab softshell trousers, I have to say I'm very impressed!
They are incredibly comfortable, well fitting walking trousers with a really snug microfleece lining which also does a fantastic job at wicking away sweat.
The outer fabric (Pertex Equilibrium) is very lightweight and windproof - it really enables these pants to block out all winds. The fabric is also highly water resistant and also works well in snow (like in the recent bad weather). In fact, I have never needed to use my waterproof over trousers. The fabric is also very breathable and so when working hard you rarely overheat or become uncomfortable as a result of their fantastic wicking properties.
The two large waist pockets act as excellent handwarmers due to their fleece lining. I have previously lost many things out of pockets of other trousers so I'm really grateful for the zips on these! Another feature I love is the drawcords at the base of the trouser legs which keep both wind and snow out.
Overall, an extremely warm and comfy pair of walking trousers which work spectacularly in cold, wet and windy weather but also help to keep your body temperature in 'equilibrium' when you break into a sweat. Well done Rab!

Really warm & comfortable winter walking pant Reviewed By craig, 25 Jan 2013

I purchased these pants in the sale so I couldn't be happier with the price, I have only worn these pants once on a walk up snowdon yesterday 25/01/13 it was a very, very cold day but these pants kept me really warm & comfortable for the whole walk, The soft inner lining is really comfy & warm with fantastic wicking properties with the pertex equilibrium outer shredded the snow all day, the two external pockets with the same soft lining are a treat for cold hands, I would recommend these pants to anyone looking for a pair of good quality, warm, comfortable walking pants.

Worth the money entirely Reviewed By R, 18 Feb 2012

The usage I have out of these is extreme, I have used them heavily on all occasions from day trips, climbing, to everyday cold walking to and from. Justifying the expense is very simple in my mind. Maximum warmth, minimal sweat. So so very comfy, and very hard wearing. For climbing I tend to take the bottome up slightly to free my ankles and the Velcro strap is great, with no slippage. The waists are very comfortable, there is belt loops, but I have never had to use one. Great flexibility for movement. Try a pair on, and the comfort factor alone may sway you. Have been in a few showers also, and have not got wet, obviously if you jumped in a pond, then you will. So don't. Still kept warm, despite the outer being visibly wet., also would recommend to some cyclists. I don't find I sweat in them, but they keep me at a very comfortable temperature on cold days, and do well against the cold wind.

Good, if a little basic for the money Reviewed By Simon, 17 Jan 2012

These trousers have some commendable qualities, such as light weight, weatherproof-ness and comfort, but some drawbacks, too. A little stretch in the material wouldn't go amiss at this fairly lofty price and an extra pocket at the rear for a wallet would be appreciated. Favourite bit is the cinch cords at the bottom of the legs, which keep the legs dry when fording streams etc. I would buy again, but only if they are reduced in a sale.
