Warm, versatile and quality jacket Reviewed By Ian, 18 Nov 2012

This jacket is nothing short of excellent. It is incredibly warm (core loft body), light weight, packs down really well, and looks good out climbing or in town. To be honest I'm surprised I haven't seen more around. I was after something warmer than my windproof fleece, but didn't want a full on 'sumo' style down jacket. The synthetic down (core loft) in this one does the trick without the bulk of bigger jackets. I've been using it without a shell in dry days and it cuts the wind and keeps me warm without any trouble. It easily fits under a shell jacket, so no problem in the wet either. It has tight but really comfortable cuffs on the arms, toggles to tighten the jacket base, and a close fit which helps keep warm, and gets the jacket out of your way when climbing. The hood doesn't have toggles to tighten or adjust it, but it again is pretty snug so keeps the warmth in.

In summary a perfect piece of kit that is worth every penny of its price tag. You won't ever leave home without it.

I am very pleased with my Atom jacket , it looks great, its lightweight and compresses down to next to nothing, I tend to wear just a tshirt underneath it because its so warm might have to put an extra layer on come winter but as long as you are active you shouldnt need to.

The only fault I can find with it and the reason I am giving it 4 stars is because the hood is not adjustable, that is the only thing that lets it down.
If you not too concerned about the hood there is a version that has same specs minus the hood.
There is a mountain equipment jacket that is practicaly the same as this but it had an adjustable hood which fits better and doesnt blow down when the wind picks up , it is also priced the same as the Atom Hoody.

Still a great jacket feels great next to the skin and the hand warmer pockets are great as well

A light and warm jacket - perfect for that additional layer when things get cold. Soft material - and perfect soft and cosy pockets for your hands!
