The thing that sets it apart from the competition in my eyes is the hood. It’s just a really, really excellent fit with no extra bulk. It’s got a great peak that keeps the rain out of your eyes and it turns with your head so you’ve always got great visibility. The jacket is also an excellent year-round cut. Some people say it’s a lot to spend on a jacket, but in filthy weather it’s money very well spent.

Verdict: Great jacket with an excellent hood

Highly recommended Reviewed By JACQUELINE, 23 Feb 2013

Previous to this buying this jacket, I owned a Lowe Alpine weatherproof jacket. I was aware that Lowe Alpine stopped making clothing a few years back. The jacket finally needed replacing after 12 years. I was recommended Rab jackets due to the event fabric. I am more than happy with this jacket as it is nicely tailored for a womans fit. The hood is an absolutely great feature and had I known about this jacket sooner I wouldn't have delayed buying a replacement for my faithful Lowe Alpine one.

A jacket that is long enough to cover your bottom! Reviewed By Judy, 15 Jan 2013

I have been trying to find a waterproof that is long enough to cover the top of my kegs and bottom for five years. I am very small & petite so long jackets are like coats and usually very dull in style. Hooray, the Vidda is just the thing. Hood a real plus and can be curved round your ears for a snug fit.

Nepal Monsson Coat! Reviewed By samantha, 21 Aug 2012

I bought this coat 2 years ago and wore in Nepal last year for treking in the monsoon. An awsome coat- did everything the manufacturer raves about. Easy to clean- in fact wash it lots then iron it as instructed. Best buy ever!

It's a hot classy colour, you look good in it and it's brilliant in the pooring/windy Welsh weather. You pay for what you get really good female fitting and is just generally gorgeous.

Great in extreme conditions Reviewed By A, 25 Aug 2011

I bought this to replace my 10 year old goretex jacket and put it to good use in gale force conditions in south east Iceland. It really did the job and kept me both dry and warm in pretty wet/blustery conditions.

This is the ideal hillwalking jacket Reviewed By JANET, 07 Jul 2011

I have been wearing my Rab Vidda jacket all year round for about 3 years now, and it's still performs 100%, and that's saying something since I live in rainy rainy rainy Scotland! It is light enough to stuff in your sack and wear in Summer yet also ideal for keeping the rain, wind and snow out through Winter by just wearing insulation underneath. The Vidda jacket is a better length for hillwalkers too (unlike the Latok Alpine for example, which is shorter and geared more towards climbers). Rab is a UK brand so the size is correct (no need to refer to confusing size guides for UK shoppers). I love this jacket, it is my one essential piece of kit. When it finally gives up on me I'll just buy another one...maybes in a different colour.

Perfect all year round Reviewed By Emily, 13 Mar 2011

I bought this to go travelling around Central America last summer as I was told to expect random heavy downpours! Kept me completely dry and it was light enough so I didn't overheat.
Is also good at coping with the lovely UK weather and now I'm in windy Denmark it's keeping me warm as it's windproof.
Oh also went to the Arctic circle and combined with base and mid-layers I was never cold and didn't over heat too much skiing or snow shoeing!
All round very good and a really nice fit. The pockets are huge too- I can easily fit a 750ml water bottle in them and passport fits conveniently in the inner security pocket!
