This technical alpine climbing boot is engineered for optimum performance. Featuring Asolo's Dual Integrated System, the Sherpa GTX is designed for use with "semi-automatic" or "automatic" crampons, where stability, support and shock absorption are required. A dual intensity microporous midsole provides additional shock absorption and underfoot comfort. The Sherpa GTX is made with water-resistant Perwanger leather as part of the GORE-TEX® Performance Comfort Footwear range, offering optimal heat retention to keep you dry and comfortable in demanding conditions.

Only had these boots two days and already broken into them , I bought these because I do a lot of mountain walking but also terrain where you wouldn't think these boots would suit for example forestry and easier terrain than on a mountain , but I must say they are great! I wasn't to sure to fork out £220 for a pair of boots , but now I see that as a cheap price to pay for quality!

I used these (after a very short wear-in period) in Knoydart and the Cairngorms in May. They proved to be warm, tough and completely waterproof (we had some serious rain and blizzards). They are comfortable enough for general walking (though I'd use a more flexible boot if there was no chance of snow) and worked very well in crampons and on snow slopes (the Grivel Air Tex New Matics fit them like a glove).
It's nice that they are genuine UK sizes, rather than UK approximations of EU sizes.
I've used Mantas on a winter skills course and when I was a mock-student on an MIC assessment - the Mantas are also very good and there is little between the two boots. Having slim feet, the Asolos fitted a little better and I was happier walking on the flat in them.
For long mountain walks when they are new, tape your heels with Zinc tape, as stiff boots will move on the heel unless cinched very tightly.

Excellent for lower volume feet Reviewed By David, 27 Apr 2012

The Sherpa GTX is an excellent all round winter/alpine boot for men with slightly lower volume feet. I chose these over the Scarpa Manta partly due to their waterproof lining (which the Manta doesn't have) but also primarily due to the foot shape. With the Manta, Scarpa have moved to a higher volume last (the mould the boot is made on) than previously, whereas the Asolo last is lower volume and slightly narrower. Fit is everything with boots and these fit my feet perfectly.
I found them to be stiff enough for ice-wall climbing yet with enough give in the ankle to make winter hill-walking comfortable. The toe shape is more pointed than some too which was an advantage on more technical ground. The rubber rand protected the boot well on rock and I expect these to remain a favourite for years to come!
