Brilliant Stove
Reviewed By Sam, 09 May 2014

Trangias are awesome bits of kit. This stove is for one or two people, which it can deal with perfectly. It is a little heavy compared to some backpacking stoves but when you consider that this is a stove, windshield and cookware all in one it is actually fairly light and extremely packable.

Anyone worried about the speed of meths or using it as a fuel in general, I own the gas adapter, and only use it occasionally. If you're out and about, and can't wait 8 minutes for water to boil, you're missing the point of being outside really aren't you?

I now own the Trangia Mini, which is perfect for one, but the advantage of two pans in the 27 means it still ends up in my rucksack more than i originally thought.

Definitely worth getting the multidisk, as a strainer and chopping board. I've never seen the need for a kettle really, just boil it in a pan.. and a non-stick frying pan is a good buy, just keep the plastic cover that comes with it, and buy a small wooden spoon!

Excellent and indestructable

I bought mine in 1997 and it's still going strong (2013). You can use it in any conditions and it's really stable. I recently upgraded the frying pan to the non-stick version - perfect for breakfasts!

A classic design
Reviewed By Martin, 15 Dec 2011

I was using one of these over 30 years ago and I think mine is almost that old and it still works perfectly, because thre's nothing that can go wrong with it - all my original components are still fine. Aside from the lighter alloy in the new version the design hasn't changed at all, so I guess they got that right first time. Not as quick as a gas stove, but it doesn't take all that long to heat a pot of water. So long as you have a source of ignition - lighter, matches - it won't let you down.
