A pulley is neccesary kit for any alpinist. Most plan to make do with a carabiner but if your mate falls into a crevasse a pulley will cut the time of rescue in half. And time is a major issue if they are hanging unconcious. This petzl is perfect. At only a tenner and ultralightweight its a definite addition to your harness.
