benchmark in simplicity

Reviewed By Alex, 18 Apr 2012

This pack is free of all the bells and whistles which serve only to complicate and crowd the pack, Berghaus have really embraced clutter free functionality and made a great pack. the back is comfortably padded without being too bulky and the wider shoulder straps distribute the weight very well so the straps don't cut into you. The hip belt is comfortable and sturdy and the buckle is strong and easy to use. The racking loops on the hip belt seem to soak in water and tend to abrade quickly, they could have done with a plastic tube coating. The front attachment points are of little use for almost anything actually as gear has smashed and stabbed the back of my legs before. The side compression straps sometimes looses themselves off but overall are effective and provide a great and secure placement for storing axes. The lid pocket is a bit small also so i have found it hard to get even small items in with a guide book in there.

very good rucksack

Reviewed By Alex, 01 Apr 2012

used walking / climbing in northern Wales, thouroghly dependable bag. Extremely comfortable with a comfortable back which still fits me although I am quite small (around 5' 5'' then). The rucksack is highly adaptable and also alows great flexibility and freedom of movement. Obviously very well built and long lasting, definately good value.

Brilliant!

Reviewed By James, 18 Feb 2012

A truely versatile bag! So far it has taken me climbing in Costa Blanca, Mountineering in Scotland and even the weekly trip to the local climbing centre.
Lots of room on the outside to attach skis, climbing gear, 2 ice axes and walking poles if needed. Again lots of space inside for gear, clothing, food etc. and also internal pocket for water bladder.
So whether you're an experienced climber or a novice hill walker, this is a good all rounder!

excellent all round mountaineering pack

Reviewed By Jonathan, 10 Feb 2012

An array of attachment points over the pack, including ice axe loops and gear loops on the waist strap for your rack when climbing, make this an excellent all round mountaineering pack. It fits the back well and comfortably, whilst being narrow enough for tight movements on climbs and scrambles. I've used this for via ferrata in the Dolomites, winter mountaineering in Scotland, scrambling in Snowdonia and the Lakes, and just general walking in the hills. It is big enough for a one night expedition and a good pack for a group leader on a day trip, but for longer trips a bigger pack will be required. Great buy at an excellent price; much cheaper than very similar packs by other brands.
