Representing a new level of freedom and comfort in lightweight walking boots, the Asolo Mens Piuma Boot is engineered to feel as natural and unobtrusive as possible.

Part of Asolo's Natural Shape range, the Mens Piuma Boot is designed for lighter walks in milder conditions. The Natural Shape concept produces boots whose profile reflects the contours of the foot, for a free, comfortable fit. This begins with a flexible Vibram sole which is curved - like a foot - so with each stride you have a direct, responsive feel for the terrain but, thanks to the shock absorbing midsole and rugged lugs on the outsole, you're also isolated from it.

The body of the Asolo Mens Piuma Boot is similarly sympathetic to the shape and movements of your foot, from the underfoot cradling of the footbed to the suede and breathable-mesh uppers which accommodate the flex and form of your foot and ankle.

Balancing protection with sensitivity, freedom with support, the Piuma is about as close as you can get to walking barefoot while still wearing boots.

The perfect lightweight, every day, summer boot.
Reviewed By Lee, 29 Apr 2014

I recently bought these because of the give-away price offered by Cotswold Outdoor. Asolo are a footwear manufacturer with a long heritage, plus there's a vibram sole so you know it's going to be well built. The boot tends towards the "barefoot" approach in it's last i.e. it's foot shaped with a low rise to the heel. Previous reviews have said it's a wide fit - but I think it just allows your foot to spread naturally (I wouldn't say my feet are particularly wide). The fit in the heel suits my foot and I usually wear La Sportiva rather than say Scarpa, so I'd say it's towards the narrow end of the spectrum. This boot is not at all stiff and I'd class it as 'a trainer with ankle support' rather than any kind of mountain boot. With it's part mesh upper it's well ventilated but not at all water resistant so perfect for lowland/woodland walks in hotter climbs. For me it'll be my everyday boot for field and woodland walks in the South of France and trundling around town or along the coast in the summer in the UK. It's not particularly useful for wetter/damper conditions. Lightweight boots for dry conditions are thin on the ground these days, and these certainly fill a niche which hasn't been filled since those Merrel fabric boots from the mid 90's. If you prefer to strut around in boots at all times of the year, these are your perfect day to day summer wear - go on pick up a bargain!

Awesome lightweight multi-use boots.

Amazingly lightweight and comfortable. Have replaced my approach shoes as these give a bit of ankle support. Naturally shaped in all the right places, very happy with them!

Light and naturally shaped boot.
Reviewed By P, 28 Oct 2013

After two years of mostly being in barefoot-style shoes I was looking for something for when the weather turned colder and Asolo seem to be the only people making walking boots with a natural foot shape. This is a very well designed boot with a wide toe-box. The only problem I had with them is that my feet are used to zero-drop from heel to toe and the drop in these boots is uncomfortably steep (just the same as normal, unnatural shaped boots), but it can be reduced by replacing the insole with a flat insole. If you are looking for a walking boot with toe-room then these are great. The Asolo Creek is in the same Natural Shape range but is lighter and gore-tex lined, so if you are looking for dry as well as healthy feet and can afford the extra they would be a great buy too.

comfortable, supportive boot
Reviewed By Nick , 17 Aug 2013

Bought this boot for light walks and the occasional more strenuous hill walks. I should point out that I have wide feet and also have a neuroma in both feet. These boots are excellent. They're really supportive without feeling like your foot is in a vice. They're breathable and flexible enough to allow you to walk naturally, pretty much from day one - no blisters and your toes aren't stacked in top of each other. Not sure how much ankle support they will provide as I've not had the pleasure of going over in these yet, but certainly more than an approach shoe. They're not waterproof, but I knew that before buying so wasn't disappointed. I'm no seasoned expert, but if anyone should ask I would definitely recommend.

Quality made, fantastically comfortable
Reviewed By Andy, 30 Jul 2013

Although having never heard of this new brand the quality of manufacture seemed extremely good. The boots had just a morning on around the house then a hot, dusty 25Km first trip out. Very light, great support and very comfortable even before wearing in. Great boots so far.

Fantastic comfort
Reviewed By Lewes, 21 May 2013

Brought this boot as I was unable to find a boot to fit my wide feet, brought a week before the Big Black Mountain Challenge, 17 miles across the hills. No pain or blisters despite only having worn them once before the walk. Like wearing a slipper with a vibram sole, perfect highly recommended.
