A "MUST" for any Biolite owner!
Reviewed By Chris, 01 Jul 2013

This is a must for any Biolite owner out there!

As many of you will know cooking with wood produces some of the best smoke flavors for meat, my personal favorite is cherry. The grill cooks meat to perfection with no charring as the flames are kept inside the biolite's chamber, there are 2 heat zones and you can regulate the heat by opening and closing the lid on top, this also makes it easy to keep the biolite fuel chamber full of wood.

I did a BBQ with sausages and Burgers for my first use of it as I wanted to see what cooking times are like, I was pleasantly surprised, 2 x frozen 1/4lb burgers from frozen took around 20 minutes and around 12 minutes for the sausages all with a lovely wood smoked taste.

I haven't tried it out on a trek, and to be honest, I would probably leave it in the tent, it's just a bit too heavy and bulky to carry around in a rucksack, I personally find it hard to justify carrying the weight just to be able to grill some food but that's just me.

It's also a great talking point, my family were all impressed with the concept of being able to charge a phone from a handful of sticks and cook for the whole family too.

Pros:
Build quality - Very Well constructed.
Size - it's bigger than it looks on the pictures.
Stable - it fit's perfectly to the stove and doesnt move around.
Add's a lovely wood flavour to food
Add's the ability to grill food on the biolite

Cons:
A bit of a pain to clean the mesh inside, best to use a wire brush.
Weight - for hiking I would leave it at base, it's just a bit too heavy and bulky.
A tad pricey.

Other than that overall it's a very well constructed bit of kit and I can see it lasting a long time, that adds another use to the already fantastic Biolite stove.
