The Fast Find Ranger PLB is a lifesaving distress beacon which packs advanced technology into a simple, lightweight, palm sized unit. Rugged, impact resistant, waterproof and capable of operating at temperatures as low as -20°C, the Fast Find Ranger is designed especially for outdoor enthusiasts and adventurers. If you find yourself in a remote area without any other form of communication, activating your Fast Find Ranger will summon emergency assistance, using GPS positioning and two radio transmitters to allow rescuers to home in on your exact location. The built-in GPS receiver pinpoints your location to within a few metres then, using the dedicated, worldwide 406MHz frequency, your unique ID and precise location are transmitted to the global network of search and rescue satellites. Within minutes, rescuers are alerted to your situation and receive regular updates. Finally, the emergency services can home in on the Ranger's 121.5MHz transmission to find you. As well as transmitting your unique ID and location for at least 24 hours with a powerful 5 watt output, the Ranger also includes an SOS LED flash light facility which is manually activated to further assist in speeding up your recovery during night time rescues. Additionally, the integral battery has a user storage life of 6 years, so there’s no need for constant battery changes and re-charging. The Ranger is subscription-free and does not rely on commercial call centres. Please note that as of the 12th January 2012, individuals are legally able to use Personal Location Beacons (PLB) on land in the UK following a change in legislation by OFCOM. However, it must be stressed that this device is intended for serious emergency use only.
