Deceptively brilliant and great value for money

The Mens Pro Tour Jacket by Marmot is exceptionally light and packs down superbly, when unpacking it my first thoughts were how can something this light and small work so well but as soon as you put it on, the warmth, ease of movement and extreme comfort become apparent. The pockets are exceptionally roomy and the sturdy build of such a light jacket is really very impressive.
The design of the jacket is absolutely fantastic, the separate hood and neck system allow for maintaining warmth even when it's not wet enough to require the hood. There are also toggles on the neck, hood, and bottom of the jacket, allowing easy adjustment to retain even more warmth and keep out the elements when necessary.
The Pro Tour is a thoroughly excellent jacket, with all the creature comforts you could ask for, extremely wind proof but still highly breathable, it certainly looks to be a perfect jacket for almost any outdoor activity and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone, superb value for money.

Fantastic for spring time weather

Got four of these branded with our work logo, mainly for use during fieldwork on the beach as well as mountain activities. It's very lightweight but the fabric is good quality. The pockets are a decent size and the cut allows easy access to trouser/short pockets. Love the wired hood - missing on so many jackets, allowing real control over the hood fit. Worn through a number a heavy rain showers and kept me dry and warm with no problem.

Wouldn't stand up to heavy, persistent rain, both otherwise a top buy.

Best soft shell gillet

Converted to Gilles a couple of years ago, originally bout the neutrino, promptly fell in love with it and decided to buy this one and put it through its runs. A superb seasonal equivalent. Extremely comfortable, and provides massive agility with out it riding up your back. The water treatment is very effective at combatting most showers, whist the power shield is extremely effective at suppressing cold winds. I use mine, for everyday walking, climbing & cycling. Great for that little added pick me up heat, but without sweating. No abrasion from rubbing agaInst tough rocks and stands up well at work! So the build quality is great. There is no rubbing tfrom the collars and from the seams at them arms, so it's very comfortable. Very handy pockets on the sides, and inner, which when in use, don't cause annoyance or as sometime happens with inner pockets pulls down from the inside. this has none of those problems. It's a definite looker for a wide array of people, who want the flexibility whilst keeping the elements away from you. (arms exzempt)

Great starting jacket and all rounder

This is fantastic value for money- I use this especially in warmer months as my mid layer. I had a softshell before but was too heavy to use in warmer temps. This is very easy to walk with, lightweight and provides great insulation should you need to add your hardshell outer layer or other variant. This over the top of a base layer provides adeqate ventilation and windproofing for most ascents. I love this jakets and is the mainstay of my equipment locker. The pockets are large enough to take phones/wallets etc and the tapered arms and cuffs feel very nice and the quality of the garment is superb. If you like softshells but find some a little heavy (or like me you run hot on most ascents) this is perfect for you.

Quality Soft-Shell Jacket

Replaced my old trusty North Face shell. The Baltoro is in a different league in terms of quality and robustness. I've found it to be completely windproof and it recently kept me bone dry during a 1 hour rain storm in the hills. Like most soft-shells you need to get the mid and base layers right for warmth in winter. During the recent 'warmer' conditions (11C) found the jacket is fine with just a very thin t-shirt. In summary, this a great jacket which will not let you down.

Great all rounder.

I was given this softshell as a Christmas present and have hardly had it off since. The addition of a hood (capable of taking a helmet) has made this a great all round jacket, especially for Scottish weather. I now only have to reach for by old Gore-Tex on the very wettest of days. I only have two negatives about the jacket; first the hood does not roll away the best, which can be annoying in very windy conditions. Secondly the external pocket are possibly a wee bit two deep coming below where the waist belt of my rucksack sits, which can become irritating if you are having to take your rucksack off and on lots. But all round a good bit of kit that is going to be well used.

Awesome allrounder

Just took this jacket snowboarding and even at -25deg all I needed was a couple of light wicking t-shirts underneath. Even my mate in his 600 fill down jacket was colder. J=Fitted ove snowboard helmet too.

Conversely can also be a quite cool in the uk. Guess something to do with wet vs dry cold.

Love it though and highly recommend to everyone I know.
