Deceptively brilliant and great value for money

The Mens Pro Tour Jacket by Marmot is exceptionally light and packs down superbly, when unpacking it my first thoughts were how can something this light and small work so well but as soon as you put it on, the warmth, ease of movement and extreme comfort become apparent. The pockets are exceptionally roomy and the sturdy build of such a light jacket is really very impressive.
The design of the jacket is absolutely fantastic, the separate hood and neck system allow for maintaining warmth even when it's not wet enough to require the hood. There are also toggles on the neck, hood, and bottom of the jacket, allowing easy adjustment to retain even more warmth and keep out the elements when necessary.
The Pro Tour is a thoroughly excellent jacket, with all the creature comforts you could ask for, extremely wind proof but still highly breathable, it certainly looks to be a perfect jacket for almost any outdoor activity and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone, superb value for money.

Fantastic for spring time weather

Got four of these branded with our work logo, mainly for use during fieldwork on the beach as well as mountain activities. It's very lightweight but the fabric is good quality. The pockets are a decent size and the cut allows easy access to trouser/short pockets. Love the wired hood - missing on so many jackets, allowing real control over the hood fit. Worn through a number a heavy rain showers and kept me dry and warm with no problem.

Wouldn't stand up to heavy, persistent rain, both otherwise a top buy.

The best single outdoor jacket.

I have three versions of this and one of the Montane shirts that are basically the same. If I had to have one outdoor jacket, it would be this. It works well in rain and when it's very cold. It's not waterproof, but I regularly wear it in pouring rain as you'll always sweat in a goretex if you're working hard up a mountain. It dries in no time at all and the venting options really do work well to manage your temperature.

Absolutely wonderful!

I recently spent weeks looking at different outdoor jackets, eventually i came across the Buffalo Special 6 Shirt. I believe this jacket is unbeatable, firstly the price of £120 is not that expensive for a multi-purpose jacket as other brands would be charging £200 - £300. The Pertex/Pile lining on the inside of the jacket will keep you warm in any temperature that this country can throw at you. The jacket can be warm on it's own, with no other layers underneath. If you start to feel too warm, zippered vents on the sides of the jacket will allow you to cool. The shirt also provides multiple straps and Velcro tabs which means that the fit of the shirt is snug and this makes it unbelievably cozy and secure in the harshest of conditions. On a mountain i would rather sleep in this rather than a standard sleeping bag! Made in Sheffield, i am proud to wear a British made jacket which is outstanding. This can not be beaten if you want to get away from wrapping up with layer after layer reducing your movement, this is the best. Thank you to Cotswold Outdoor for suggesting it. Lastly, people who do have the jacket have stated that it lasts year after year. Armed forces and the search and rescue can't be wrong!

Couldn't live without it

My buffalo shirt goes everywhere with me from winter mountain biking in Scotland to open canoeing on the Dart. It really should be the first piece of kit any self respecting outdoor enthusiast should buy. It keeps you warm when wet and great in a sleeping bag when the temperature drops. With the addition of a lightweight goretex top you're ready for anything. I'm now going to by a new one..

Astonishing performance

I wear the jacket when kayaking. In a racing kayak (flatwater not whitewater) you sweat a lot and wearing a "dry-suit" is not really an option. The special 6 wicks sweat very well and drys quickly when wet. Today (Christmas Eve) I ended up in the canal (about 5 degrees C). Once I was over the shock and out of the water the special 6 simply drained out and after a few minutes of hard paddling I was toasty warm again. The jacket/shirt was dry enough when I finished to drive home in. When you meet others wearing buffalo you know they are the real deal- not outdoor fashion followers. OK, is not fashionable, it just works.

Great starting jacket and all rounder

This is fantastic value for money- I use this especially in warmer months as my mid layer. I had a softshell before but was too heavy to use in warmer temps. This is very easy to walk with, lightweight and provides great insulation should you need to add your hardshell outer layer or other variant. This over the top of a base layer provides adeqate ventilation and windproofing for most ascents. I love this jakets and is the mainstay of my equipment locker. The pockets are large enough to take phones/wallets etc and the tapered arms and cuffs feel very nice and the quality of the garment is superb. If you like softshells but find some a little heavy (or like me you run hot on most ascents) this is perfect for you.

Great all round wind stopper. Have continually worn this at the driving range or whilst out on the mountain bike since I purchased it. It's nice and warm and showerproof. Tested that out in the recent wet weather.

Vest does ride up quite easily so you will be continually pulling it back down. But otherwise a good all rounder you won't be disappointed with.

Good lightweight softshell vest

Had this soft shell vest for a few weeks only but am actually quite impressed with it. Fit is quite good though it does lift if not wearing a waistbelt or harness, and pockets are in a good position so are fully accessible even with harness on which means that it falls perfectly into my definition of good pockets as you can fit at least 3 twix bars per pocket!! Water resistance is also brilliant, highly recommend for mildly windy climbs or fast road cycling!
