Jack Wolfskin

Mens Chinook Jacket

Very light, windproof, very breathable and with a very compact pack size – the Chinook manages to combine all of these attributes. This is the ideal lightweight alpine wind shell, and you will find space for it in the most crammed rucksack, despite its being a very well featured jacket. With three pockets, a high-reach articulated cut and even pit-zips, the weight saving does not come at the expense of function. It is built to withstand harsh treatment too, courtesy of the high tear-strength Stormlock Active Ripstop DWR fabric.

Wind proof excellence from RAB

Tennis ball size / less than 150 gm = take everywhere. Worn over a base layer or fleece for total wind protection and ok in the odd shower. Great cut to avoid flappy material, well thought out features. Useful running / biking top as long as you avoid road rash with the thin material

Exceeded expectations

I bought this jacket to take on the Tour du Mont Blanc trek - ie as a really lightweight packable layer for rest stops and reaching the windy cols. I did not expect it to be comfortable next to my skin (over a short sleeve base layer) when walking uphill - but it was. It also kept me dry when walking in misty rain. I am a size 12 but bought the men's version (small) because I like the longer length of body and sleeve, and was really pleased that I could still get such a great colour. The hood has a clip to keep it from flapping in your face when down - worked well. I wore this at some stage of every walking day, and feel it was well worth the price - a definite piece of kit to pack from now on, wherever I am walking. No negatives.
