Good light weight jacket

A windproof and lightly lined jacket that is good for that extra protection in warmer weather, especially if, like me, you feel the cold when you get in the wind on the tops. Rolls up small to fit in my pack and is light in weight. The original Vapour Rise's summer sister?

good all round jacket

the slipstream jacket is very waterproof but also very breathable , it is very thin also allowing you to pack it down very well. great jackets , great value for money . you get what you paid for with this jacket , it will not keep you dry if your caught in heavy rain for a very long period of time but you are okay for roughly two hours. high recommended for someone who is wanting to pack light.

Lightweight but suffers for it

Whilst the Rab Slipstream Jacket is certainly windproof, I would not like to risk wearing it in anything more then a light shower. Even in light rain the fabric begins to wet out around the cuff and patches around the chest detail. The reflective piping is not much to speak of either.
The toggles on the the hood adjuster have come off.
Breathabilty is also an issue with this jacket, I found the inside of the sleeves to get damp from condesation during activity.
So far I have only used this jacket on my walk to work.
After having owned the jacket for just over a month I believe that it'd be best to save your money and buy a more robust jacket.

Wind proof excellence from RAB

Tennis ball size / less than 150 gm = take everywhere. Worn over a base layer or fleece for total wind protection and ok in the odd shower. Great cut to avoid flappy material, well thought out features. Useful running / biking top as long as you avoid road rash with the thin material

Exceeded expectations

I bought this jacket to take on the Tour du Mont Blanc trek - ie as a really lightweight packable layer for rest stops and reaching the windy cols. I did not expect it to be comfortable next to my skin (over a short sleeve base layer) when walking uphill - but it was. It also kept me dry when walking in misty rain. I am a size 12 but bought the men's version (small) because I like the longer length of body and sleeve, and was really pleased that I could still get such a great colour. The hood has a clip to keep it from flapping in your face when down - worked well. I wore this at some stage of every walking day, and feel it was well worth the price - a definite piece of kit to pack from now on, wherever I am walking. No negatives.
