About the store
About the store
The store is set in the historic Roman city of St Albans. Access couldn't be easier; the M25, M1, M10 and A1 (M) are only 4 - 5 miles from the store. Free parking is available at the front and the rear of the building. A bus stop is situated directly outside and the city's station is only 5 minutes walk away. We are open 7 days a week, with a late night opening on Thursdays.
We aim to satisfy all of your outdoor needs whether you are taking a walk around Verulum or trekking in the Himalayas, enjoying city breaks or backpacking through India. Our staff are outdoor enthusiasts who have travelled the world, mountain biked and climbed their way around Europe and are more than willing to pass on their vast outdoor experience and knowledge.
Want to trial any of our products at home?
No problem. In fact we recommend you do. Pay for your new gear and you can trial it at home at your leisure. We think it's especially important to trial footwear at home, but also jackets, rucksacks, electronics - you name it. All we ask is that if you decide you don't want to keep your purchase you return it as new, in the original packaging and retain your receipt. You can also take all the time you like, although we'd prefer you to return your goods within a month.

Are you about to go travelling around the world? Or maybe looking for a new climbing guide? Well we've most likely got the book or map that you need. Our library has just about every book for every outdoor activity that you can think of. If you can't find what you are looking for, let us know and we'll order it for you.
- Children's Clothing
We believe we have the best range of outdoor children's clothing in St Albans, keeping your children warm and dry from tot to teen.
- Boot fitting
Are you having problems with you're footwear, sore feet, blisters? We can help. All you need to do is make an appointment to see our trained boot fitter and we'll do the rest.
- All year travel
We carry a comprehensive range of travel products through all seasons so if you are planning to jet off somewhere nice for the winter we should still have everything that you will need.
