Welcome
Our Keswick store brings a unique blend of functional and stylish outdoor gear to the area - and it's aimed at everyone who enjoys the outdoors.
Local knowledge
Because most of our core staff live locally we are usually able to provide the best advice available on local outdoor activities. We know the routes, the trails, the walks, the campsites, the people, the car parks, the peaks, the distances, and the times.
Need to know what to take where?
All our core staff are outdoor nuts of one sort or another. They have travelled all over the world from Patagonia to the North Pole and from Yosemite to Kilimanjaro. They have bummed lifts across Europe, jumped off bridges, and climbed peaks all over the world. Our expertise covers just about everything from rock climbing to world travel, mountain biking to mountain leadership. We also like to hear your stories and learn a lot from customer feed back. So if you have a story to tell, or can advise us on techniques and gear you have used then feel free to drop in - we'd love to see you.
Location and parking
Our store is easy to find, being right on the town square next to the tourist information office. It backs onto the first large parking lot as you come into Keswick from the East. The building is very deceptive from the outside, appearing exceptionally small at first, however once you get inside you soon realise that we have over 9000 square feet or shop floor space. The building has lots of character with lots of different levels and original features.
Layout
To help you find what you are after we have split all of our clothing into Mens (1st floor) and Womens and Childrens (ground floor). We also have dedicated climbing, camping, footwear and travel departments.
Satellite technology
We pride ourselves on our knowledge of all things new and 'techy'. We have a great range of GPS units and knowledgeable staff who are more than happy to give in depth training on how to use the units to their full capacity, including combining them with mapping software.
Air sports
Kite boarding - the newest extreme sport around. Strap yourself on to an all terrain skateboard, grab hold of a huge kite and get dragged along a beach at high speeds. We have a variety of kites and boards to suit all abilities, and the staff with the knowledge and enthusiasm to prepare you before you give it a go.
Book department
Our library is a literary treasure trove of books and maps, so whether you're looking for info on climbing in the New Zealand Alps, trekking in the Himalayas, or just walking round Derwent Water, we have something for you. The library also has a great view of Skiddaw.
Want to trial any of our products at home?
No problem. In fact we recommend you do. Pay for your new gear and you can trial it at home at your leisure. We think it's especially important to trial footwear at home, but also jackets, rucksacks, electronics - you name it. All we ask is that if you decide you don't want to keep your purchase you return it as new in the original packaging and retain your receipt. You can also take all the time you like, although we'd prefer you to return your goods within a month.
Boot fitting department
We pride ourselves on being able to fit boots to just about anyone, using a wide range of techniques to help ensure a good fit. We are a supplier of Superfeet custom insoles and have four members of staff who are trained to fit them, one of whom will always be in the store. If you specifically want to take a lot of time over boot fitting and want to come in on a weekend, all we ask is that you make an appointment so that we can be certain of having a boot-fitter available to help you.
