Adaptable convenient medium weight jacket Reviewed By Wayne, 30 Dec 2012

Having carried out lots of internet searching, I visited Cotswold Manchester. I explained what I wanted and the chap pointed me to the Cornice IA. Over the last week, I have had plenty of oportunity to test it out. In wind conditions of 50mph + and driving rain, I have not been dissapointed. The hood design allows it to be fitted to your head snuggly by altering the straps. This allows full vision all round as the hood turns with the head and not loosely in the hood. (excellent safety feature). I wore just a fleece which I zipped in and even with the wind as it was, I kept warm but equally if not more important, due to the Goretex material, I did not get wet from perspiration. The hem sits lower than a normal jacket but not too long to obstruct your legs giving better cover of your backside. The lower pockets have a flap over a zip which gives good protection from water running in and I particularly like the chest pocket which zips and is covered by the main front flaps keeping water out from where I kept my mobile. I didnt get chance to keep it in a rucksack but it does fold up neatly and small enough. If there is an improvement, it would be at least one internal pocket. Having pockets in my inner fleece helped but if I hadnt had that, storage space would have been a premium. Very good all round coat/jacket.

Worth Every Penny Reviewed By John, 29 Dec 2012

Having used many differnt waterproofs over the years I find the Berghaus Cornice IA by far the best. The fact that it is slightly longer than regular waterproofs makes it far more versatile ie for everyday use, there is no restriction when scrambling due to the double zip system. The fold away hood (which I leave out permanently)is one of the best I,ve come across and is fully adjustable. The jacket is quite warm without a liner and very breathable. All in all I cannot find any fault with this waterproof and it us definately worth the price

The best coat I have ever owned! Reviewed By Richard, 29 Aug 2012

I am 6 feet tall. I have found the Cornice Long to be the perfect length for me. The quality is fantastic as one would expect from Berghaus. I have come in after many torrential downpours of rain soaked from the knee down and perfectly dry upwards. With a medium weight fleece zipped in I can normally go out with just a tee shirt on underneath even in near zero temperatures. In the recent summer down-pours and no fleece it is just as effective and I do not get too hot. Sleeve lengths are good, the collar is perfect for keeping out the wind and the pockets are great for stashing just about anything and keeping it dry. The hood is very effective and has a formable peak so you can mould it as needed and the whole hood packs away easily and discreetly. I have owned my Cornice long for 3 years and used it well winter and summer, although you wouldn't think it to look at it, very durable and smart. Rick
