Having carried out lots of internet searching, I visited Cotswold Manchester. I explained what I wanted and the chap pointed me to the Cornice IA. Over the last week, I have had plenty of oportunity to test it out. In wind conditions of 50mph + and driving rain, I have not been dissapointed. The hood design allows it to be fitted to your head snuggly by altering the straps. This allows full vision all round as the hood turns with the head and not loosely in the hood. (excellent safety feature). I wore just a fleece which I zipped in and even with the wind as it was, I kept warm but equally if not more important, due to the Goretex material, I did not get wet from perspiration. The hem sits lower than a normal jacket but not too long to obstruct your legs giving better cover of your backside. The lower pockets have a flap over a zip which gives good protection from water running in and I particularly like the chest pocket which zips and is covered by the main front flaps keeping water out from where I kept my mobile. I didnt get chance to keep it in a rucksack but it does fold up neatly and small enough. If there is an improvement, it would be at least one internal pocket. Having pockets in my inner fleece helped but if I hadnt had that, storage space would have been a premium. Very good all round coat/jacket.
