Expensive but really worth it

I was really painful to part with that sum of money but this fact soon faded away from my memory and all I was left with was a smile on my face while standing in the heaviest of the rain on many occasions. I've had it for 1.5 years now. I first tested in on Tour Mont Blanc trail where it saved me from heavy rains many many times. It's very conformable because of its flex material. It can be packed into a very small ball so there's almost no need to leave space for it in a bag. Its pockets are well placed, deep enough and are well protected. At the same time, I wouldn't keep anything very important there as the company itself states (as far as i know) the pockets are not completely waterproof and things can get wet there in certain conditions.
One thing to keep in mind is that while goretex is glorified it is possible to get the slightly damp from condensation in certain conditions. The heat from your body doesn't escape very easily if you move a lot and everything is fully zipped and tightened in cold conditions in heavy rain (or persistent mist/fog), so don't think that this jacket is a miracle. It's simply a really good jacket that in my opinion has no equals even with all of its minor weaknesses.

Phenomenal piece of kit

I bought literally dozens of outdoor shells from bright orange ones for cycling to daretogo, you name it but they all let in water. This jacket stands head and shoulders above the rest ; proper taped seams and zips, goretex all the way and loads of other features like the draw string on the hood that transforms it into a tight peak cap capable of sealing in the heat and keeping out the strongest of winds on any wild mountain. The pockets are easy to use in cold/bad weather and store enough for a day expedition. I have used this on snowdon, pen y fan and scotland and has never let me down. the price point is what you have to pay for something you can depend on to keep you dry and alive.
