Great value for money and a brilliant tent Reviewed By Marc, 28 Feb 2013

I brought this tent for my young son. It is so easy to put up and very well made. One thing that is unusual, is that the fly sheet is connected permanently to the inner tent, so you can't remove it completely. The fly sheet itself is connected to the inner tent at the front hoop. On hot nights, you can roll the front access and rear cover of the fly sheet. This is really a great little tent and great value for money. Thoroughly recommended.

Excellent value tent Reviewed By , 28 Jul 2011

Used this for a week's wild camping in the Scottish highlands. Packs down well, easy to put up, lightwight so ideal for back packing. Kept the midges out as well. Am 6ft 1" tall and I fitted in no probs. No 'porch' area so to speak of, but yr boots will fit between the inner and outer flysheets and stay dry over night. Highly recommended, can't go wrong at this price!

Well made, not for everyone though. Reviewed By Paul, 11 Jul 2011

I use one for cycle touring. There is enough space for an adult and child (just), so there is plenty of room for one adult.
There is no room for storage, so you'll need a plastic sack to weatherproof your other kit, and cooking cannot be done in shelter. However, it's much more comfortable than a bivi bag and can be considered to be as small as a tent can go.
Construction is excellent - the groundsheet is much heavier cloth than many these days, which is good to see.
I would have liked a few more pegs - it's nicer to be able to peg the outer with a bit more adjustment. The knotted elastic for the peg loops is not great - some others I have seen are clamped which doesn't work undone.

However, these are minor gripes, and the Gossamer is stunning value. So it's a 4 star recommendation, provided you wouldn't have to live in the thing for a week. There is space for sleeping only.

fantastic! Reviewed By , 21 Apr 2011

I bought a Jack Wolfskin Gossamer tent before taking a three month trek with my horse through the mountains of Greece. I have made previous trips in Greece (have ridden 8,000 kms) and took only a bivvy bag, to cu weight. But this time I took a J W tent. It made a HUGE difference. Easy to put up and tough - I probably pitched it and took it down 90 times and it still looks like new. It was warm, even in very cold conditions near the summit of mountains where there was snow, and, it was superb in very windy conditions.
It was, needless to say ABSOLUTELY water proof. In addition owing to an ingenious system for circulating air inside the tent, compensation wasn`t bad at all. What else? oh yes.. the inner shell is an absolutely insect proof mesh.. really really excellent I wasn`t bitten once though I camped in mosquito rich marshes. And fo me the best thing is that, if the weather is good you can sleep just under the mosquito net and look atthe stars and moon as you drop off to sleep, and wake up next to the grasses you camped on, as if you are in the open, just in the open and not eaten by insects.
The pegs sometimes bend, BUT can easily be straightened, so that`s OK. I usedthe same pegs for three months of very rugged camping, and

Amasing value Bivvy Reviewed By Mark, 14 Apr 2011

I am really pleased with this Item. Solid build easy to erect especially when cold and tired. I bought for overnight trips walking and kayaking Lochness (hopefully). Plenty of headroom for a bivvy, dont expect to be able to sit up inside if you are over 5'0". But its not a tent this is a bivvy! Having used UK armed forces style bivvy's this is luxury and really light and compact to boot. Can't wait to get out and in it.
