With a lack of practical women's trousers for this purpose, I chose these Mammut pants because they are comfortable and warm on colder days. I use them for rock climbing and they're also protective against scrapes. The pockets are great (again, often don't get these on women's styles). Only other comment is that they would be extra perfect if they came in 'long'.

really comfortable trouser, just tested them out going up snowdon .. i would say they are cool enough to wear in the autumn/spring also and not just a winter garment. added benfit is that they look stylish and dont look out of place in the high st or down the pub

Wore these super comfortable trousers whilst climbing Kilimanjaro this July. They kept the cold out, and the zipped vents allowed ventilation when it warmed up. I teamed them with some thermals summit night. There was a blizzard at one point and the Bask Pants kept the wind and cold out, and my legs warm and dry. Looking forward to wearing these this winter.

Bought these trousers in 2011 and I have worn them constantly, including while skiing in the Swiss Alps! If you like practical, tough and warm winter trousers then I would highly recommend these from a well established top brand. They look smart too. My partner even bought a pair , and thats quite a compliment!

I have had these for about 2 months now and they are the best I have ever owned! Extremely comfortable with a good amount of stretch! Pockets are well placed and accessible. They are warm but do not make you overheat. The outer is extremely weather durable and wind and rain doesn't penetrate easily. The best thing I have found about them is that they are exceptionally smart looking also, the business class suite for the outdoors for all the outdoor professionals out there!

The perfect pant for winter hiking. These tough pants are breathable and 'light shower' proof. If you're looking for a hiking and waterproof trouser, they provide well needed inbetweener. The stretch fabric allows maneuverability over steep, rocky sections while also being tough against the inevitable scrapes and scathes. Quality Zip pockets keep your essentials safe from loss and poppers on the hem allow a good fit around the boot and the easy use of Gaiters if required. Mammut have done if again, great product for a great sport.

Wore these on a wet and windy day on a 10 mile hike in the Mourne mountains.Very pleased with their performance.Great wind and rain resistance.Very comfortable and warm. Not too pricey neither.Looking forward to using them in full on winter conditions.10/10 Mammut
