Very impressive boot Reviewed By George, 14 May 2013

Bought a pair of these boots from the Rose Street store in Edinburgh City Centre.
Broke them in by doing a 21 mile walk along the canal from Linlithgow to Edinburgh. Nice flat going. Boots were very comfortable, excellent fit - big thanks to the Rose Street staff for their patience, advice and help in assisting me to choose such a good fitting pair of boots - and no blisters when I got home.
Excellent and encouraging start albeit on the flat in dry conditions.
Took the boots with me to Torridon at the start of May to do some hill walking. Weather was wild! Rain lower down which turned into snow higher up. Ground above 750m was still covered in snow. Testing conditions! 2 hour walk in, 2 hours up and down then 2 hours back to our accom. feet felt dry and warm(ish) all day. Checked my feet when i got back to our accom and they were dry. If these boots can cope with Torridon in that weather they can cope with anything!
Two very contrasting outings with these boots and they coped well with both. No blisters, kept my feet dry and were very comfortable to wear. Highly recommend.

Very comfortable but let in water Reviewed By Peter, 01 May 2013

I thought I would try third time lucky with these very comfortable boots. Unfortunately after six months they let in water in from low wet grass, as did the first two pairs.
Now will try another brand.

Instantly comfortable Reviewed By Simon, 08 Apr 2013

Having done many miles in (Merrell) walking shoes I was unsure about going back to boots, even a "mid" boot. I wanted a 'breathable' boot that would remain comfortable for endurance walks in good weather, but supportive enough for rough terrain in colder weather.

I visited the Brighton store and was served my an enthusiastic young chap who carefully measured my feet and asked what I was planning to use the boots for.

The assistant selected these Meindl boots and a pair of Scarpa boots (Cyclone's I think). The Meindl's were instantly comfortable and I chose them over the Scarpa's.

I've had them a week or so now and walked about 20 miles. The highest compliment I can pay is that I don't notice I'm wearing them; they're that comfortable. I had some concern whether the Contagrip would be up to the task and I suspect they could be a bit slippy on wet uneven rock surfaces, but so far I have no complaints.

So comfortable but no grip Reviewed By , 01 Jan 2013

This is probably the most comfortable boot I have ever had & a big thanks to the Guildford Cotswold’s people for all the time they took helping me find it. The down side is that there is hardly any grip on them, so one is constantly worried about slipping, even across a wet field. Maybe I should have got'n the next one up?

Good stable comfortable walking shoe Reviewed By Rachel, 08 Jul 2012

Ok, so i'm a woman with a big hoof .. that being said, it's up to you how much credit you give my review ;-)... This is a really comfortable boot, with good ankle supported, & it feels lighter than other weighty boot i've worn. It has room in the toe area for comfort (rather than feeling cramped), but my ankle is strapped in well, & doesn't push on my ankle bone like others do due to the padding.

I spent 1hr trying on boots & shoes in store, walking/manouvering up & down the ramps in store -i was really impressed with the hold of the shoe on my foot & the surface, & also with the service staff. This is the 2nd boot i've bought from Cotswolds, & i have to say, i always come away feeling confident in my footwear - the footwear staff really know their stuff, & have lots of handy hints re lacing, etc.

Excellent for those needing a wider boot Reviewed By Marjorie, 19 Apr 2012

My husband has broad feet and is disabled. He wears a splint on his right foot and lower leg. We have struggled for some time to find footwear that keep his feet warm & dry. Even going up a size and a half, he has been unable to find a boot wide enough to accommodate the splint under his foot that doesnt crush the top of his foot.

This boot is brilliant! It is wide enough to accommodate the splint and gives him more support than a shoe. Now his feet will be dry and toasty in adverse weather. Another bonus is that it is not a heavy boot either so it won't tire him out.

In addition, the service in the shop was outstanding. The staff could not be more patient or helpful. Their expertise ensured they were able to advise on a suitably wide boot. They inserted an insole into his left boot so that the boot on that foot wasn't too big. They also put grip toggles onto the laces because he struggles to tie laces. So now he just pulls the lace, slides up the toggle - all done! We have tried numerous outdoor shops and until now, have had no success with finding a waterproof boot/shoe that fits him. So well done Meindl for your generous width sizing and an extra well done to Coltswold Outdoor staff in Aberdeen for brilliant custumer service!
