I was sold when I read about the Merrell barefoot range. I had been looking for a barefoot shoe for sometime and the Pace Glove looked great and felt amazing on- 'like a glove'
I originally bought them for a trip where I wanted to be as lightweight as possible and with travelling with a 30L rucksack for 3 weeks it was essential to find a great all rounder shoe. This turned out to be the perfect solution. I hiked, cycled, ran and wondered around in these and both the shoes and my feet survived. Its great to have the hard wearing vibram outsole, something you can really rely on.
Also, I have taken up running recently and I am glad I have consolidated my training with the pace glove. I have many of my own views about barefoot running as my day job involves gait analysis and injury management as a physio. It's essential that you ease yourself in. The Merrel app gives some great tips. Your running style will change so its important to build up slowly.
I also found that to maximise my benefits I stretched and strengthened muscles in my foot and ankle that were tight and weak from a lifetime of being in raised and supported heal shoes. I focused on; the calf, especially the Soleous muscle, and the Plantar fascia/foot flexors
If you want to try it, look up a stretch and strengthening exercise for each of those muscles on any internet search engine you will find some instructions.
Overall the Merrel Pace Glove is a; comfy, versatile, hard wearing, breathable, flexible shoe for; running, walking, jumping, skipping, tip toeing, pirouetting etc etc.
