Mimicking the biomechanics of barefoot running, these shoes give you a precise, glove-like fit with internal support for your mid-foot area, directing impact onto the balls of your feet, helping you to run more efficiently, avoid injury and strengthen your feet and ankles.

Minimal cushioning, a flexible plate in the forefoot and a rubber toe bumper provide enough protection for your foot without impeding their natural movement or your feel for the trail. Merrel's precise Omni-Fit lacing system ensures the Trail Glove stays snugly in place, keeping the protection where it needs to be while still allowing natural movement.

Very breathable construction and antimicrobial treatment in the midsole enhance the barefoot feeling of freedom and comfort.

Barefoot running can be a great experience but, as with any new sport you try, it can take a bit of getting used to! For more information on the barefoot running style, including important hints and tips on how to get started, click here.

Perfect for novices and pros alike

Reviewed By Marina, 23 Oct 2011

Having decided to start running, I read a lot about technique including barefoot runners, which led me to buy these shoes. The pace glove is living up to all the hype! I started by walking around town and in the park, and immediately noticed that my feet were being encouraged to work differently, my spinal alignment improved, my abdominal muscles engaged to support the spine, and my breathing capacity increased as a result. Within a month of wearing them gradually to walk more and more, I have started to run, paying attention to technique, as instructed in the merrell website videos. The results are amazing. I am running with ease and hardly any muscle soreness - which was not the case when I tried running with regular trainers! I am a novice runner (although fairly fit and flexible through other types of physical activity), and I don't intend to ever run in regular trainers. And a final observation: anything I do with my barefoot shoes result in feeling more energised at the end. Being on my feet has never been a more rewarding experience!
Caution: do take things slowly when you start wearing them, as your muscles need to adjust gradually, to avoid soreness and injury.

Stylish and extremely comfortable

Reviewed By , 31 May 2011

I bought these for general everyday use in my search for a solution to an easily aggravated knee. Having tried a variety of anti-pronation footwear and insoles, and custom orthotics I was ready for something new. These are terrific! As comfy as slippers and ultra-lightweight, they offer snug support to the arch but allow your foot to work in its own way. Advice to runners is to adjust to these shoes gradually, but within a fortnight of starting to wear them, I put in 8 hours of tramping round the Chelsea Flower Show without any discomfort whatsoever. Next stop, the gym! I might even try jogging in them.....!
