An adaptable, streamlined down jacket: perfect for Alpinists, fantastic day-to-day!

With superior quality, 750 fill goose down insulation wrapped up in durable, weather resistant Pertex outer fabric, the Microlight Alpine Jacket offers maximum warmth for minimal weight. The narrow baffle structure minimises down migration and provides optimum loft. The hood and even the zip baffle are down-filled, for all-over protection from cold and windchill, and it packs into the chest pocket for minimal storage.

Clean lines and uncluttered, simple design make this down jacket ideal as part of the layering system for climbing or alpine adventures - but this versatile piece is equally at home for day to day use or for lightweight backpacking.

The Microlight Alpine Jacket is the perfect choice when warmth, weight and packability are important considerations.

A fantastic lightweight jacket that I also use as a mid-layer. More often than not I throw it on when reaching a summit as it is not only incredibly warm, but very windproof too. One of my favourite features is the way it packs down into the chest pocket with leaves valuable room in my pack.

Verdict: Easily one of my best gear investments.

Amazing lightweight jacket Reviewed By Harrison, 19 Apr 2013

Bought this jacket 18 months ago and since it has been my number one to wear for all occasions. As an everyday jacket and for the mountain it is prefect fit, warm and wind resistant, keeps me warm against a strong mountain wind.
Have used this for walking, climbing and even skiing in Norway, so it works!
First thing I pack for days out, a versatile jacket for every activity!

Big things come in small packages! Reviewed By Alex, 03 Apr 2013

My friend Dan and I have been having an ongoing 'who has the best kit' argument for the past few years, and I think I can safely say I am currently holding lead position.
When I first bought this jacket, It's light weight and low price tricked me into thinking it wouldn't be warm or durable enough for my use. How wrong I was! This jacket offers surprising warmth for it weight. Its size means I can just roll it up or fold it into its own pocket, throw it into my bag and forget all about it until it's needed. It acts as a perfect mid layer or even an outer shell on dry days as it is fully wind resistant and even resists all but the heaviest downpour. It is also extremely comfortable to wear, with a cosy hood, soft inner chin panel, toasting hot hand warmer pockets and an all round snugness-I feel genuinely happy when wearing it! The only criticism that I have is that the waist seam does not have a draw chord but instead has an elastic seam which is, well, not very elastic. This makes it rather loose around the waist which looks slightly odd on skinny old me. However this is overcome once I am wearing a harness or outer layer. If it wasn't for that small dislike I would definitely have given it five stars. As strange as this may sound, the jacket feels as if it has a built in thermostat as it keeps me warm when I need to be but not too warm when I don't need to be. This makes it perfect for climbing in cold conditions, for sitting at camp in the evenings and adds at least a season if not two to your sleeping bag. It also makes a great casual jacket and triumphs over anything my friend or I have. If you're not sure about getting this the answer is simple-BUY IT NOW! (unless you're Dan, in which case it wouldn't suit you at all)

Small, but packs a punch! Reviewed By James, 24 Mar 2013

Very toasty jacket, which works well on its own or under a waterproof as a layer system! Packs down to nothing in the chest pocket so it never takes up much space. Lovely elastic cuffs so stop chill up your arms. Hood is also insulated to keep you ears cosy. I use this as a coxswain in a rowing boat where it gets awfully cold in the winter months. It's also good to wear casually if your nipping to the shops or just out and about :) Overall, its a really warm jacket and id highly recommend for this cold cold 'spring'. Don't let the 'light' part of the name put you off, because, yes it is, but its also pretty darn warm :)

Offers much better warmth than you expect from such a light weight jacket. Perfect by it's self or layered with a waterproof outer layer. Just the right thickness to not feel too bulky. Looks great in the twilight a real cool jacket

The darling of down Reviewed By Owen, 05 Sep 2012

How best to put this? Oh yes, BUY IT!

Seriously - probably the greatest jacket I've ever owned.
Featherlight, silky soft and beautifully snug in even the lowest temperatures.
The beauty of the Microlight Alpine is its inherent packability - not only does it stuff itself into its own pocket, but its narrow baffling and collapsible nature make it the perfect midlayer, over which to wear a really good eVent or Gore waterproof shell.
It's an investment, yes - but an investment you will not regret.

RAB tick all the boxes again Reviewed By Paul, 09 Jan 2012

Lighter than a fleece, wind proof, low bulk. Great for wild camps, instant warmth, also good to add a season to your seeping bag. I've had the standard down jackets which are too hot to walk in in all but the coldest weather.

Excellent Reviewed By Matt, 13 Oct 2011

A great, extremely lightweight, jacket. Bought it ready for the winter and impressed with the warmth so far. Well made and its clearly going to last me. Comfy hood too. Only downside is there are no waist elastic toggles. I had to get the next size up too as the waist sits high. Overall its brilliant. Im really impressed with how lightweight it actually is.
