High mileage training shoe for neutral runners who want one shoe from door to trail.  The XR is for higher mileage runners who transition between trail and pavement and want a neutral shoe. Perfect fit comes from Salomon's Sensiflex, soft reinforcement on the ball of the foot, and the Sensifit system to wrap around the upper instep precisely. An Oversized Tendon midsole component provides a smooth cushioned ride with energy return for long runs. And a new chevron pattern Contagrip outsole ensures precise grip on virtually any surface. The neutral version has a 3 piece midsole with a symmetrical shape, and fully welded Sensifit upper.

I've been using the XR Crossmax Neutral as a training shoe for over a year and I'm always impressed how well it is able to handle greatly varying terrain, as comfortable in the first mile as the last. Last summer I used these shoes to race at Kilians classik 25km in the Pyrenees, so if you want to use them racing, they'll back you up all the way!


Verdict: A "must have" for all trail runners
