The definitive hill and mountain all-rounder, the Scarpa SL Activ delivers the perfect combination of support, flex and protection.

As the latest generation of the SL - Scarpa's legendary 3-4 season boot - the SL Activ has some pretty big boots to fill. Not to worry: the SL still offers fantastic support and grip on demanding terrain, but with added comfort for multi-day use. Sturdy enough to take a walking crampon when needed but flexible enough to use as a hill walking boot, the SL is a stunningly versatile piece of kit.

From the stiffening materials within the boot which provide tailored, unobtrusive support, through the shape of the padding around the ankle, right down to the design of the lacing eyelets to ensure the boot wraps securely around your foot, Scarpa's attention to the comfort of your feet in the SL is incredible. As well as providing comfort and support, the SL uses sturdy Sherpa leather and sports a high rubber rand for dependable, durable protection.

If you're looking for a boot to take you from Snowdonia's craggy peaks to Everest Base Camp, look no further than the SL.

Fantastic Boot Reviewed By Callum , 03 Jan 2013

After various recommendations of boots, decided on these for my first pair of winter/mountaineering boots. Fantastic from the start! Having used them in the Cairngorms and Pennines, both out on the moors, and on snow and ice, they have been fantastic. Great support and comfortable across most terrain, had been told to expect to be uncomfortable on tracks because of the stiffen sole, but they were fine, though definitely more suited to the moors and snow. Comfort, support and all round great boots. Would certainly recommended them

The near perfect winter boot Reviewed By Paul, 03 Nov 2012

Truly an astonishing boot. I have just come back from 5 days running a Gold D of E in Dartmoor in grim conditions (very wet, incredibly muddy & dam chilly) & these were the only boots out of 48 people which did not leak, stayed immensely comfortable & stayed firm all day. A top purchase

A bomb proof pair of boots Reviewed By Brendan, 04 Oct 2012

A very comfortable pair of Scarper boots. I recommend these boots to any one doing high mountain trekking (requiring crampon use). This is my second pair and I can not fault them.

Excellent boot Reviewed By Craig, 02 Oct 2012

Have been looking for a while for decent boots which offer great support but are not to stiff; these are them. The foam upper ankle support is very comfortable and the lacing system keeps your feet where you want them. Married them with a pair of Green Superfeet and i now have the perfect boots. They have been to the Lakes, the black mountains and the Austrian Alps without any issues. Fantastic.

Brilliant boots Reviewed By Fiona, 29 Aug 2012

I have had Scarpa SL's all my life - the first pair lasted 25 years, the second 15 years, so there was no contest for my next pair. But the SL Active are so much better than the SL and took no breaking in at all despite a long hill day on their first outing. They felt so comfortable immediately on trying them on in Cotswold. Annoyingly Scarpa are not making a Ladies' version but although I had the Ladies' SL, the new Ladies' SL was far too narrow despite my having narrow feet. It was also much stiffer and according to a friend, has the usual wearing-in and blister problems. So Ladies, as long as you are no smaller than a 41 definitely go for the SL Activ. I take a 39 shoe and the 41's are fine with 2 pairs of socks which I always wear in any case. Fantastic boots which I hope will last another 15 years! And thanks to Cotswold staff for their knowledge, advice and patience.

Great, comfortable boots. Reviewed By Claire, 06 Mar 2012

Having not had time to break these boots in I first used them to scale Crib Goch. From the beginning they proved to be an extremely comfortable boot, kept my foot completely dry with plenty of ankle support. A great all round boot, would highly recommend.

Jack of all trades Reviewed By Samuel, 04 Jan 2012

I spent around 45 -60 minuites with a member of staff at the cotsold outdoor shop in Betws-y-coed talking about what I wanted from a pair of boots and having my feet measured. I was told that these boots would be a good choice for all of my needs. I was somewhat sceptical of leather boots due to having high feet arches and being very prone to recieving blisters (even in trainers). However, i tried on these boot and knew these were the boots for me.

I have already used them on a long walk in up steep tarmac and on a scramble and not recieved a single blister. They are without doubt the comfiest footwear i have ever owned. I would recommend these boot even if you dont require a crampon compatible boot.

overall, a fantastic boot and brilliant customer service as always.

Scarpa SL Activ (B1) review Reviewed By Steve, 04 Oct 2011

The first time I wore these boots was on Grib Goch and the Snowdon Horseshoe in heavy rain, followed the next day by Tryffan. Two weeks later I did the Glyders. No a bad test! They were a great, fitted right out the box, completely comfortable, no blisters, fantastic. Great for steep walking and scrambling and descending steep scree gullies and do not feel heavy. The very first thing I did with them was to jog up to Pen Y Pass car park and they were brilliant. To be honest I set out not to buy leather boots but there are not many alternatives in this "must do it all" category but these were the best fit and met all my requirements, in theory at least and in practice so far they have surpassed by expectations. The staff at Cotswolds were good too and spent nearly 1.5 hours with me making sure I got it right. All in all highly recommended boots and in store service.

The best leather boot ever Reviewed By Andrew , 29 Sep 2011

I have owened an the old Scarpa SL. This was before the ankle upgrade. These boots lasted me over 6 years of of intense daily use. up some of the roughest terain. Bounced of scree and walked though snow and ice in -20c temperatures. They stud up to some harsh conditions. My feet never got wet, i never slipped from the tread. I sat at home nursing my boots not wanting to part from them. But it was time that the old SL's to be put out of there poor missery (sorry boots). Im now the happiest owner of the Brand new Scarpa SL active boots and oh my god. To say that Scarpa have out done them selvs is a total understatemnt, the old boots took some time to bed in but these are as comfy as trainers, as waterproof as wellies and yet as warm as a hot sandy beech. I love these boots. forget about anything else. these boots are well worth the cost. I use mine 5 days a week and they will last, the tread will last and the linner also. I have a brand new hot model and i like her.
Do not consider anything else untill you have slipped your feet into pure luxury.
5*Plus.
Can i say anything else but thank you Scarpa you have made a happy man happier. Also top marks to Cotswold for there sales. I love just popping in just to chat to the guys about stuff. Thanks and keep up the hard work.
